.'VM-730 CoMPOSIlE VIDEO ANALYZER WIIH Auro-ItIUSURE FEAJ'URES The I'VM-730 Video Analyzer sets a standard for combination waveform monitor/ vectorscopes. It is the only combination model to have auto-measure capabilities in a half:rack width, 5/14'inch high package. Auto-measure provides text readouts for horizontal blanking measurements, frequency response, test signal parameters and many other measurements (see a complete list on pp.26-27). An innovative combination of analog and digital signal processing provides the fidelity of analog resolution with the unquestionable accuracy of digital measurements. Operator-defined measurement parameters can be stored in memory for instant recall and the output can be downloaded to a personal computer for storage or to generate a hard copy print-out. The TVM-730 provides two operating levels. Level/lets operators display waveforms, vectors, pictures and one SC/H phase. Level// gives engineers a complete range of tools, including digital line selects, quad SC/H phase displays, measurement cursors with on screen digital readouts, and a patented 3-D display: Tactile membrane hard keys select all primary functions while soft keys select context sensitive on screen menu items. All functions are clearly labeled for quick and accurate selection. Four composite inputs and a wide variety of functions provide monitoring flexibility. Nine different inputs/filters can be displayed simultaneously; such as differential phase, differential gain, flat, low pass and chroma filter. Waveforms can be displayed in simultaneous parade modes or overlayed for comparison of timing and amplitude characteristics. Vector displays can be overlayed for simultaneous observation and comparison of the phase and amplitude of up to three signals. On screen writing completely describes the display on the CRT. The picture mode displays monochrome pictures individually; or paraded. RS-232/RS-422 port provides access to a// memories via a personal computer. .INPUTS: Four composite loop-through. The I'VM-730 Video Analyzer sets a standard for combination waveform monitor/vectorscopes. It is the only combination model to have auto-measure capabilities in ahalf:rack width, 5/14' inch high package. Auto-measure provides text readouts for horizontalblanking measurements, frequency response, test signal parameters and many othermeasurements (see a complete list on pp.26-27). AND CABLE

Videotek's auto-measure system will perform over 200 baseband video tests tobroadcast level accuracy. This makes the TVM-730/TVM-730P instruments powerful testand measurement tools for broadcasters and the cable industry in a variety of situations.Below are suggested types of basic system configurations.

BROADCAST/CABLE NTSC/PAL TEST SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONS

SYSI'I'M I: This system uses the TVM-730 or TVM-730P video analyzer with auto-measure and an optional serial printer to perform

base band video testing. Once you have established the test signal, field, and line assignments using the TVM-730/TVM-730P digitalline select capabilities, a series of menus on the instrument's screen assist the user in defining the selected measurement. Execution of

the established sequence of measurements and the test results are displayed on the TVM-730's screen, and simultaneously printed.

Results can be reviewed at a slower pace on the instrument screen.

sysrEM .2: This system adds the multiple test and scheduling power of the PC to 5ystem 1. In this example, the TVM-730communicates directly with an optional printer. This configuration provides the ability to print line selected waveforms or vector

displays, using 55/-1000 software.

sysrEM 3: This system uses Videotek's TVM-730/TVM-730P auto-measure instruments. The PC controls the TVM-730/TVM-730Pthrough the serial R5-232 port. Videotek provides TVMAUTO software to run on the PC and control these instruments. Multiple testscan be developed and scheduled in this system. Results are stored on the PC and can be reviewed after the completion of the sched-

uled tests.

SYSI'I'M 4: This system uses the DM-154 or DM-200 NTSC American Standard Agile Precision Video Demodulator and the VideotekTVM-730. This is the most basic of the Off-Air or Cable FCC measurement systems. It will directly send the results to the

printer as they are being performed.

SYSI'I'M 5: This system incorporates several of Videotek's computer controlled devices offering unparalleled testing capabilities. It contains the DM-154 or DM-200 Precision Demodulatot; RS-l03 Series Routing Switchers, and of course, our TVM-730 auto-measureunit. Option 1 is provided to convert an RS-232 port to the RS-422 port required by the RS-l03 series. These power-packed devicesare completely integrated together by our new 551-1000 System Software Interface package. It requires a PC with three RS-232 ports

and provides a system test capability and flexibility for the most discriminating operator or engineer.

SYSI'I'M 6: This performs the same functions as System 5, but incorporates Option 1 and 2. Option 2 provides an expansion of one

serial port to four RS-232 serial ports for computers with serial port limitations.

551- , 000 5YSI'EM SOFI'W ARE

The Videotek System Software Interface package is a PC-based software package designed to integrate control of four differentVideotek products for testing. The 551- 7000 system controls the TVM-730 in a fashion similar to the standard control software included

with this product. Further, it also integrates control of the DM- 754 or DM- 792 Demodulator and any member of the

R5- 703 Series Routing 5witchers.

The control software includes the ability to define, schedule and perform all the tests capable with the TVM-730, control all the functionsof the DM- 754 or DM- 792 and control of all the functions of the R5- 703 series. Results are stored in the PC for later revie~printing andstatistical analysis. A test definition includes the standard for the measurement, measurement parameters for pass/fail, signals to be usedin the test, location of the test signal (i.e, VIT5) and user identification. The demodulator portion of the test definition includes the channel

number, tuning offset, antenna or cable input, zero carrier pulse enable and location, as well as other functions.

The package includes software to run on any DO5 compatible computer. A cable is provided to link from a PC serial port to theTVM-730 (an adapter is included to change the connector of the TVM-730 to an R5-232 port). Another cable is provided for use from

a second PC serial port to the DM- 754 or DM- 792 Demodulator.
