Hunters are encouraged to spot activators on parksnpeaks and the DX cluster. By doing so, you are not only helping the activator achieve more contacts, but you are also assisting fellow park hunters.
6. Other issues.
Activators should be cognisant of a number of factors when operating portable from a park, including (and not limited) to the following:-
Ø Weather conditions Ø Including operating on days of extreme fire danger Ø Suitable clothing and footwear. Ø Competance to undertake the activation Ø Some South Australian parks are in very remote and
inhospitable locations Ø Park access fees. Ø Some parks require an access fee and to display a permit. Ø Legitimate/lawful access routes and necessary permission Ø Access to some parks is across private property Ø Safety of the activator and others within the park e.g. snake bite Ø Tripping dangers from antennas.
7. Activators
Activators accrue points by operating portable from South Australian National Parks and/or Conservation Parks. Only one contact is required for an activation to be considered valid and activator points awarded.
VK5 National & Conservation Parks Award – Version 0.6. Released 19th December 2014
9
Activators may not claim points for working another activator operating in the same park at the same time. Each National Park is worth 2 points. Each Conservation Park is worth 1 point. Activators may accrue points by operating portable from a combination of National and Conservation Parks. An activator may only claim points from a specific park, once per calendar year. You may operate from a park as many times as you like, however, as an activator you will only be awarded activator points once per calendar year for each park.

10. ‘Park to Park’
Park to Park certificates are issued to those activators operating portable in a South Australian National or Conservation Park, who make contact with another activator operating portable in a South Australian National or Conservation Park. Points from your activation are combined with the points from the other activation. e.g. you operate from a National Park (worth 2 points), and make contact with someone in a Conservation Park (worth 1 point). Add your 2 points for the National Park with the 1 point for the Conservation Park. A total of 3 points goes towards your Park to Park tally. (NOTE – your activation point/s only count once per calendar year).
e.g. you operate from Belair National Park (worth 2 points), and make contact with VK5AA in Cleland Conservation Park (worth 1 point). Add your points together. You then work VK5XX in Seddon Conservation Park (worth 1 point). You do not count your 2 points again for the park to park. Only the 1 point for Seddon is counted.
