of superior quality, on budget and in time.

sarissa

with her 42.6 metres loa, sarissa is the largest carbon fibre sloop built to date in the netherlands. naval architect Bill tripp designed this

performance globetrotter with a fully modern hull shape, sail plan, and spectacular vertical portlights. sarissa will sail all over the world with the

owners and their family, while also taking part in superyacht regattas.

sarissa’s hydraulic and deck systems enhance response times, load and stiffness to safely facilitate the sailing performance for which she was

designed. other custom technical features are a vitters’ developed hydraulic steering system with rudder feedback, as well as a unique system of

back and running stays to operate both the cruising and racing sail configurations.

the main sheet has been placed on an arch spanning the cockpit to

keep the deck clear. protected behind the superstructure are several

living areas: a large cockpit, dual helm and sailing stations, and sun

beds. the aft cockpit can be transformed into a paddling pool for the

children when it is not safe to swim in the ocean. a large convertible

dodger and bimini stow in the superstructure.

design merge, providing the owner with luxurious comfort, accessible and easy sailing, integrated design, advanced performance, and the

confidence to sail anywhere in safety. sarissa’s design was guided by close client input and involvement.”

interior

the interior design brief was for a modern and spacious interior, yet warm and inviting like a family home. Jonathan rhoades: “to create the feeling

of a much larger interior, we have visually borrowed volume and length from other spaces, integrated the double use of certain areas and positioned

the accommodation blocks diagonally, thereby stretching the visual length of the interior.”

the yacht is entered through the light upper saloon. a navigation area is situated in the aft port corner with a bar forward with views through to

the lower saloon and dining area.

the spectacular paired vertical portlights designed by Bill tripp flood the interior with daylight and give fantastic views of water and sky. the lower

saloon is designed to be a tv room with an open connection to the other family living areas.

curved corridors are a key feature of sarissa’s interior, as well as a unique combination of various finishing materials like limed oak panels and

cherry furniture with brushed stainless steel fittings. these are in contrast to the outboard parts, which have carbon frames, dark leather porthole

surrounds and rosewood cabinets.

a flush door in the curved wall starboard to the lower saloon gives access to the study. this room can be converted into a double guest cabin. it has a

connection to the day head and shower forward to become a self-contained suite.

the galley and dining are open plan with a folding sliding door that deploys to separate them. the crew area for six is accessed through a hidden door

in the forward bulkhead.

stairs aft from the upper saloon lead to a curved corridor with flush doors to the guest room starboard and the children’s and nanny cabins to port,

which are linked with a connecting bathroom. the children’s overhead glows with fibre optic stars of either the northern or southern hemisphere

depending on where sarissa is sailing.

at the end of this corridor is the full beam master stateroom, which features a carefully detailed skylight above the bed head. the vertical window face

forms one of the walls of the paddling pool area on the aft deck.
