• Promote economic development and regional integration, peace and security for people
• Each REC establishes own priorities based on continent wide priorities:
– Land and water management
– Market access– Food supply and
hunger– Agricultural research
CHALLENGES TO REC’S MAIN OBJECTIVE
• Disease epidemics• HIV and AIDS• Natural Disasters
– Drought– Floods – Cyclones/Tsunamis
• Man-made disasters• Conflicts and political
instability.
