With the unique VITA SYSTEM 3D-MASTER®

all natural tooth shades are systematically determinedand completely reproduced.

Determining intermediate values

For even more precise shade determination, intermediate values for the lightness levels,

the chroma or the hue can be given if necessary:

e.g. 2.5M2 as intermediate value for the lightness levels 2M2 and 3M2,

or 3M1.5 as intermediate value for the chroma 3M1 and 3M2,

or 3M2/3L2.5 as intermediate value for the hue 3M2 and 3L2.5.

The intermediate values can also be noted on the communication form.

Determining the lightness level (value)

• Hold shade guide to the patient’s mouth

at arm’s length (see right figure)

• Select group 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5

• Start selection with darkest group

Determining the hue

• Check whether the natural toothis more reddish or more yellowish

than the shade sample selected.

2Selecting the chroma

• On the basis of the lightness level deter-

mined, take the middle hue group (M)

for determining the chroma and spread

the samples out like a fan.

• Select one of the three shade samples

Al shade samples belonging to one lightness level (1- 5) have the same

value (see black and white photograph). Differences within one lightness

level are only with regard to the chroma and hue. These are determined

in stage 2 and 3.

In step 1 we are only concerned with determining the correct value(lightness level), i.e. not a single shade sample tooth (1 out of 26),

but a group of shades with the same value (1 out of 5).

Al shade samples of an M-group feature the same hue and lightness.

They only differ in the chroma.

Tips for shade-taking:

• Shade-taking should be carried out before the preparation since due

to dehydration the tooth shade appears to be too white after thepreparation.

• Tooth shades should be determined in daylight or under standardized

daylight lamps (e.g. OSRAM LUMILUX® DELUXE daylight 12- 950) and

not under operation lamps.

• Make a swift selection; always accept first decision because eyes

tire after 5-7 seconds.

• Avoid bright colors in the shade-taking environment, i.e. no lipstick,

tinted exeglasses, no bright-colored clothes.

Tips for hygiene and care:

All plastic parts of your VITA Toothguide 3D-MASTER® consist of a high-quality,

temperature resistant and easy care material. It is possible to sterilize the entire tooth guide

in the autoclave at a max. temperature of 140 °C.

Desinfection:

The VITA Toothguide 3D-MASTER® can be disinfected at the surface.

Note:

The plastic parts of the VITA Toothguide 3D-MASTER® are not monomer- and UV-resistant.

The tooth guide should not be exposed to intensive sunlight.
