The Oasis Academy Watermead - which is currently being constructed in the Shirecliffe area of Sheffield – will eventually become a mainstream community school offering over 420 places. The damp proofing requirements of the new building’s site called for some equally specialist solutions with regards to structural waterproofing. That’s why SIG Bradford teamed up with one of the leading experts in the field - Visqueen Building Products. With over 50 years of experience and a strong reputation for technical expertise, Visqueen is a European market leader in the production of structural waterproofing and ground gas protection systems. The business offers a complete product range which includes damp proof membranes, damp proof courses, tanking membranes, gas barriers and gas venting systems. This product is ideal for use in heavy duty raft foundations, alongside steel reinforced slabs and for any application where a robust and especially durable membrane is required. Its ability to offer ultimate damp proofing protection has been independently certified by leading testing organisations - including the BBA - providing users with complete peace of mind.
Other Visqueen products supplied by SIG Bradford included Visqueen Self-Adhesive Membrane - a BBA Accredited self-adhesive product which can be used as a tanking or damp proof membrane for both horizontal and vertical applications. The Oasis Academy Watermead is due for completion in November 2014.
In particular, Banner Homes was attracted to Zedex High Bond DPC because of its ability to be torch bonded. Designed specifically for use on parapet or coping stone applications, the waterproofing system uses homogenously sealed laps to provide an effective and multi-directional leak proof seal.
In line with its commitment to providing the best products backed by the highest levels of service and support, Visqueen Building Products also supplied technical advisors to help oversee the installation. These advisors were on hand throughout the process to provide practical guidance and expert advice.
