VISIT TO SINGAPORE
A Educational Tour of Saraswati College, Shegaon to Singapore was arranged from 4th
October 2017
to 8th
October 2017.
Mr. Sharad Shinde, Chairman, Board of Governing Council, Saraswati College, Shegaon,
Prof. Prabhanjan Chaudhari, Asst. Professor, Saraswati College, Shegaon,
& Prof. Arnav Wadhonkar, Asst. Professor, Saraswati College, Shegaon represented Saraswati College,
Shegaon.
The 16 students of MCA department also participated in the tour. In this tour, all team members visited
following places.
1. Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore
2. Department of Information & Technology, Union Bank of Switzerland, Singapore
3. NE Water Plant, Singapore
1. Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore
A. About NTU - World's Top Young University
Young and research-intensive, Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is ranked 11th
globally (QS World University Ranking 2018). It is also the world’s top young university. The
university has colleges of Engineering, Business, Science, Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences, and an
Interdisciplinary Graduate School. It also has a medical school, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine,
set up jointly with Imperial College London. NTU is also home to world-class autonomous entities such
as the National Institute of Education, S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Earth Observatory
of Singapore, and Singapore Centre on Environmental Life Sciences Engineering.
NTU provides a high-quality global education to about 33,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The student body includes top scholars and international Olympiad medallists from the region and
beyond. Hailing from 80 countries, the university's 4,300-strong faculty and research staff bring dynamic
international perspectives and years of solid industry experience.
B. About NTU-India Connect Research Internship Programme
The NTU-India Connect Research Internship Programme is a university-wide short-term research
programme that lasts for 2 to 6 months. It is initiated to enable undergraduate and graduate students
from Indian universities and institutes of higher learning to pursue their research interest at Nanyang
Technological University, Singapore (NTU). Students of this programme will work under the
supervision of NTU faculty, develop a strong research interest and expertise in a given research field,
experience multicultural living, gain a network of friends and a better understanding of Singapore.
Eligible students may be given an allowance and are expected to fulfill a minimum of 2 months research
attachment involving research project work at NTU. Student will also receive a certificate issued by
NTU-India Connect office upon completion of the programme.
C. Highlights of Visit to NTU, Singapore
Meeting with Prof. Suresh Sundaram, Co-ordinator of NTU-India Connect Internship
programme, NTU, Singapore and Prof. Arvind Easwaran, Assistant Professor, NTU, Singapore.
Mr. Sharad Shinde, Board of Governing Council, Saraswati College, Shegaon and Prof. Prabhanjan
Chaudhari had discussion with Prof. Suresh Sundaram over NTU - India Connect internship
programme. They discussed following points in meeting.
a) Internship of our students at NTU, Singapore
b) Student Exchange Programme.

We also visited to Parallel and Distributed Computing Lab of School of

2. Discussion Forum with Mr. Bhimappa Yaladagi, Associate Director, Union Bank of
Switzerland (UBS), Singapore and Mr. Rohit Jagdale, Associate Director, Union Bank of
Switzerland (UBS), Singapore on 6th Oct. 2017
Both have guided all the students about career opportunities in the IT sector and technical trends in IT
sector. Both of them also discussed about the working environment in the IT industry works.

3. Visit to NE Water Plant
NE Water is the brand name given to reclaimed water produced by Singapore's Public Utilities Board.
More specifically, it is treated waste water(sewage) that has been purified using dual- membrane (via
microfiltration and reverse osmosis) and ultraviolet technologies, in addition to conventional water
treatment processes. The water is potable and is consumed by humans, but is mostly used by industries
requiring high purity water.
a) We visited NE water plant on 08th Oct 2017. And attended the informative session arranged by
NE water plant regarding how their plant works and also the introduced to the system that how
they purify the sewage water and make it drinkable.
b) They also guided about the water conservation and why reusability of water is important.
