Kitchen News!

This week in the kitchen, we made sushi, orange white chocolate and poppy seed muffins, and spinach & cheese crepes. The sushi was a particular favourite for Taichi Takeda from 2/3M.

Infants Kitchen Lessons

During Week 6, Stage 2 and Stage 3 students will be having a week off from kitchen so our earlier stage

students can participate.

The timetable for these classes are:

1-2J Monday 26th August – 9.00am

KM Monday 26th August – 11.40am

1-2B Wednesday 28th August - 9am

2-3M Wednesday 28th August – 11.40am

1-2K Thursday 29th August – 9.00am

K-6L Thursday 29th August - 11.40am

KJ Friday 30th August – 11.40am

Parents are welcome to assist in the kitchen during the lessons.

ALMA PHONE APP CURRENTLY OUT OF ORDER The Alma Phone App is currently out of order due to construction.

Please contact the school for student absences, meeting requests etc.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Education Week

Today we commenced Education Week with our Open Classrooms.

Thank you to all the parents and carers who to visit. The children

love to see their family members in the classroom. On Wednesday,

we have our Infants and Primary Choirs singing in the Choral

Festival at the Musician’s Club. Details are on the following page.

PSSA Athletics

On Thursday afternoon, the field events for the Broken Hill

Athletics Carnival will be held at Picton Oval commencing at

3.30pm. Parents will need to take their children to the Picton Oval

after school if they are participating in any field events.

Track events will be held on Friday and students competing will

travel to and from the Picton Oval by bus. Permission notes must

be returned if your child is participating in track or field.

Let’s hope it will warm up a bit for both of these events!

NAIDOC Week

Week 4 will be our NAIDOC Week. This is a great week and we

invite all parents, carers and community members to join us. The

Flag Raising ceremony will be on Monday 12th August, followed by

our whole day of activities on Wednesday 14th August. Our

NAIDOC Assembly will be on Friday 16th.

We would love you to join us for these celebrations!

School Photos

School Photo Day is on next Tuesday 13th August. The P&C are

holding a gold coin fundraiser Mufti Day on Monday 12th August.

Students are required to wear their full winter uniform for school

photos, so the Mufti Day will ensure uniforms are ready for the

following day. We are very lucky that so many of our students wear

their uniforms every day. Keep it up.

P&C Garage Sale and Pie Drive

Thank you to the wonderful P&C for their recent fundraisers. The

Pie Drive was very successful as was the garage sale. A huge thank

you to our school community for supporting these two events.

P&C Mufti Day – Monday 12th August – Gold Coin Donation The P&C will be holding a gold coin donation Mufti Day next Monday 12th August. This is also a great opportunity for parents to ensure children have their full uniforms clean and ready to wear for school photos the following day.

School Photo Day – Tuesday 13th August School photos will held on Tuesday 13th August (Week 4).

Students will be required to wear full winter school uniform on photo day.

NAIDOC Day Celebrations Wednesday 14th August Alma will celebrate NAIDOC Day on Wednesday 14th August.

NAIDOC Assembly will be held Friday 16th August.

Stage 3 Excursion Stage 3 excursion to Melbourne/Ballarat commences Monday 19th August. Full payment due: Wednesday 14th August. Medication for excursion: All medication required (not already held at office i.e. Ventolin) should be dropped at office by Friday 16th August. Parent Meeting: Monday 5th August 5.00pm.

Stage 2 Excursion Stage 2 Sunraysia excursion departs Tuesday 27th August. Full payment due: Wednesday 14th August. Medication for excursion: All medication required (not already held at office i.e. Ventolin) should be dropped at office by Monday 26th August. Parent Meeting: Monday 12th August 5.00pm.

Book Week Parade Thursday 5th September Start getting your costumes ready! The Book Week Parade is on Thursday 5th September. The theme is ‘Reading is my Super Power’. The parade will commence at 12.45pm under the COLA. Parents are welcome to stay and have lunch with their children.

Footy Colours Day Footy Colours Day Wednesday 18th September. Gold coin donation.

Gala Days Gala Days will be held Friday 20th September and Wednesday 25th September.

Order online following the directions below: For parents who would like to do their ordering online please follow the directions in the letter below.

Sibling photos can be taken, order forms are available from the front office. Please be aware there is a

cutoff date for ordering online. School photos will be held on Tuesday 13th August (Week 4).

Students will be required to wear full winter school uniform on photo day.

P&C News

Garage Sale Thank you to everyone who donated goods and assisted with the garage sale on Saturday. Over $900 was raised!

Jelly Bean Guessing Competition A Jelly Bean guessing competition is now underway. Tickets are $1.00 and are available from the canteen.

Breakfast Club Donations Wanted Donations can be dropped and the office or taken directly to the canteen.

Breakfast Club relies on donations to run. A huge THANK YOU to Jayla Butcher’s family for the donation of oranges last week and to everyone who has donated to Breakfast Club so far.

Your support is greatly appreciated and welcomed by so many of our students as they enjoy their breakfasts in the morning, with thanks to our wonderful volunteers.

Stage 2 and Stage 3 Excursion Reminder! There are still students attending the excursions who have not yet returned their Permission Note, Code of Conduct and Medical Information forms. Outstanding Stage 3 notes will be given to parents at the excursion meeting this afternoon. Any outstanding Stage 2 notes will be handed out by the end of the week.

It is important that these forms are completed and returned as soon as possible.

Kindergarten 2020

Scout’s Scarf Day Freya Holden is an active member of the Scouts and proudly wears her scarf for Scarf Day last week.

ASSEMBLY AWARDS

Even though the weather is cool, the sun’s rays are still harmful. Students are required to wear their school hats to be able to play in the sun. Hats are $10 and are available from the office.
