Creating the future we want for our children and our communities requires an understanding of our physical, ecological, and socioeconomic environment. CBCL Limited has the required skills and resources to cooperatively bring industrial, infrastructure, and building plans to fruition in a creative and sustainable manner.

Thinking before acting.Forethought and planning is a crucial ingredient for success in any endeavor. That is why the land use and environmental planners at CBCL Limited are called upon by governments and other interests to provide guidance and direction on the most appropriate development scenarios for where we work, live, and play. Our interdisciplinary team also works with developers to determine and execute the studies, field programs, and public consultations necessary to bring the concept – the dream – to life.

Mitigating risk.Identifying and addressing risks at the beginning of a project is more effective than costly remediation once work has been completed. That is why we conduct impact, risk, and site assessments. It is why we undertake hydrological and oceanographic modeling. It is also why we generate comprehensive environmental management and monitoring plans.

Correcting environmental problems. Not only are there lands that have been contaminated as a consequence of past industrial development, but everyday activities also pose environmental challenges, including the safe handling of our industrial, commercial, and domestic wastes. CBCL Limited has the technical and professional resources to identify problems and work collaboratively to find solutions and to take action.

A proven track record. The environmental and land use team has a history of environmental successes across Atlantic Canada, including our contribution to the diverse studies and regulatory processes necessary for the remediation of the Sydney Tar Ponds and the reopening of the Donkin subsea coal mine. The focus is providing the interdisciplinary skills necessary and establishing relationships with the regulators and the communities involved to ensure our clients’ needs are addressed and their plans realized.

From preparing environmental management

protocols to the execution of studies and attaining

necessary permits, CBCL Limited has worked with

all branches of Atlantic Canada’s energy sector:

oil and gas, coal, and renewables.

Representative Work
