Saint James is committed to becoming a 100% tithing church. Saint James is also committed to living out the giver's confession which we recite every Sunday. It is my hope
and prayer that all members of our family will realize the biblical importance of being honest and consistent in their stewardship. Scripture teaches us in Luke 12:34,
"Wherever your treasure is, there will the desires of your heart be." Every time we give to God faithfully, we demonstrate to God where our heart is. At Saint James, giving is a
lifestyle. Has giving become a part of your lifestyle? - RLS Ministries Tithing by Percentages

Vision Statement: “Making Disciples, Building Families, and Meeting Needs”
Mission Statement: Our mission is to gather and grow fully mature followers of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through
• Life changing worship • The Love of God expressed by a family oriented congregation • The Lordship of Jesus Christ over our time, talents, tithes, and offerings • Holistic ministries that promote our
Core Values: Discipleship, Spirituality, Family, Education, Stewardship, Service, and Evangelism.
This Is How We Live Out Our Core Values: • Worship & Pray • Study & Obey • A Tithe to pay • A Role to play
Statement of Encouragement: It's going to be a good week. There's nothing that you're going to face this week that you and your God can't get through. For if God can't do it, it can't be done. But if you have the faith, God has the power. For God is good all the time and all the time God is good. If you will be good to God, God will be good to you. Remember neighbor, the best in Christ Jesus is yet to come.

Ministry Highlights: Twice a year, Saint James has the opportunity to ex-press its love to Pastor Slaughter and his family. During the month of June, Saint James celebrates the Pastor’s Anniversary. During the month of December, members of the Saint James Family express their love to Pastor Slaughter and Family for the Christmas Season. If Pas-tor Slaughter has been a blessing to you or your family, please express it in some way. All expressions aren't financial. Some are expressed through kind words and prayers. If you desire to express your love to Pastor Slaughter and the First Family, please use the designat-ed "My Pastor’s Christmas" envelopes that were mailed to members that receive quarterly envelopes via the mail. You may also use a pew envelope and write "My Pastor’s Christmas" or contribute online. Remember, scripture declares in Galatians 6:6, "Now the one who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with the one who teaches it."
Please keep Pastor Slaughter in prayer as his month-long sabbatical continues. This is a time of rest and re-newal for Pastor Slaughter. Pastor Slaughter is both grateful and thankful for your patience and for respect-ing the sanctity of this time-frame. This is the only break that our pastor takes for the entire year.
Attention All Ministry Leaders: The 2020 Calendar Plan-ning Meeting is this Thursday, December 19, 2019, at 6:30 PM in the Lower Dining Hall. For more information, please contact Sis. Barbara Carter at 973-622-1344, Ext. 116 or [email protected].
Get Ready, Get Ready! Saint James’ Annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Worship Experience is Tuesday, Decem-ber 24, 2019, at 7:00 PM. Please plan now to be a part of this beautiful experience. Pastor Slaughter will be preaching this celebration!
Join Saint James for New Year’s Eve and Watch Night Worship on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at 12:00 Noon (Newark Campus), 8:00 PM (South Orange Cam-pus), and 10:30 PM (Newark Campus). Pastor Slaughter will be preaching all three worship experiences. Plan now to be in worship on New Year’s Eve
Did you know that you could text your tithe or offering to Saint James? Take advantage of Saint James’ “Text to Give,” by texting your contribution to: 973-878-0759. In the message section, type the amount you would like to give. For example: $100.00 and then hit send. This makes giving simple, secure, and convenient. Remem-ber, the Lord loves a cheerful giver.
The Saint James "Dirt to Destiny" (D2D) Capital Cam-paign is approaching the end of its third year. Through the Capital Campaign, Saint James has been able to purchase the necessary property/land needed for con-struction without obtaining a loan. The campaign will also provide a tremendous boost in the pre-development cost associated with the vision. Pastor Slaughter is strongly encouraging all members to make a pledge in 2019 toward the capital campaign. If you can pledge $5, $10, $15, $20 a week or per month, it will help the capital campaign tremendously. If you need a pledge card, please look in the back of your pew, contact the church office, or complete the form online by logging onto ww.experiencesaintjames.com. When making contributions to the capital campaign, please write it on your envelope or on the designated line of your envelope. Remember Acts 5:39. We believe God!
OUR SICK & SHUT IN
Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any among you
sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray
over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of
faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up. James 5:13a-15b

Health Fact Corner from the Saint James Health Ministry: Crystal Richburg Oliver, Ministry Leader
The Worlds Aids Day campaign for 2018 to end isolation, stigma, and HIV
transmission through transparency, accountability, and partnerships is an
opportunity for people worldwide to unite against HIV, show support of
people living with HIV, and to commemorate people who have died.
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus the body cannot get rid of.
It is a virus acquired for life, even with treatment. The HIV virus attacks the
body’s immune system that helps to fight off infections. HIV can be con-
trolled with antiretroviral therapy (ART) and proper medical care, stopping
the progression.
Today the life expectancy of someone diagnosed with HIV, that’s treated
before the advanced stage can live as long as someone that doesn’t have
HIV. The only way to know whether or not you have HIV is to get tested.
The recommended testing age from the Center of Disease Control is 13-
64 years of age, during your routine health care visit, unless high risk activ-
ities are performed.
Testing options in your area by your local health departments or Na-tional STD/HIV/Aids Hotline: 800-342-2437.
Standard Blood Test
Rapid HIV Antibody Tests (results within 5-6 minutes) = blood test
will need a follow up specific test
Home Testing kit: Standard blood collection at home mailed to la-
boratory, can be obtained in drug stores, costing $30=$45, with
phone-in results
Occasionally, infections can be detected within 3 months if that’s the last
time you were potentially exposed to the HIV virus.
Symptoms resemble flu-like signs: Fever, Fatigue, Tiredness, Skin Lesions,
Headache, and Muscle Aches.
Treatment can include:
PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) History of HIV negative or if you don’t
know your HIV status but you were exposed within the last 72 hours.
PREP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) Very high Risk for HIV, HIV meds lower
your chance of getting infected.
