It’s a great moment for any college to reach this milestone of completing 25 years of excellence in its service towards humanity. I feel very proud to be associated with this college of repute and on this auspicious occasion I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all those who have been a part of its remarkable journey. I also want to extend my heartiest congratulations to all the students and alumni of this prestigious college who have accomplished profound success. My best wishes to the college, staff and students for achieving newer heights.

It’s a matter of great delight for me to know that Keshav Mahavidyalaya, a constituent college of the University of Delhi, which was established in 1994, has successfully completed 25 years of excellent service in education and is now going to celebrate "Silver Jubilee" function which is to be held on Oct. 22, 2019. The college has reached great heights in a very short span of time. It also adds feathers in its achievements that one of the world-renowned Scientist, Prof. P. Balaram, Ex-Director IISc Bangalore, is the chief guest of this function. I congratulate Prof. Madhu Pruthi, Principal Keshav Mahavidyalaya and her team who are organizing the Silver Jubilee function. My heartfelt wishes to her for the grand success of the function.

With tremendous joy and pride, I write this message on the auspicious occasion of Silver Jubilee of Keshav Mahavidyalaya. I feel very fortunate to have been associated with this college as its Principal. Every change, whether big or small, has brought to the college the reputation it enjoys today. I express my sincere gratitude to all staff members and students for working hard to make the college a highly sought-after academic institution. Their dedication and efforts are greatly acknowledged and appreciated. I am immensely grateful to founder Principal, Dr. K. P. Chinda for establishing a strong foundation for the college and instilling great values and discipline among staff members and students. I also acknowledge the efforts and guidance provided by all the Governing body members, whose support has been helpful to the college at every stage. Distinguished Guests Chief Guest: Padma Bhushan, Prof. (Emeritus) P. Balaram, Former Director, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore

Professor Padmanabhan Balaram obtained his B.Sc. (1967) from Poona University, M.Sc. (1969) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and Ph.D. (1972) in chemistry from the Carnegie-Mellon University, USA. He worked as a Research Associate at the Harvard University (1972-73) with Prof. RB Woodward of the Department of Chemistry. On return to India, he joined the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), Bangalore as a Lecturer (1973), and then became Assistant Professor (1977), Associate Professor (1982) and finally a Professor in 1986. He was Director of the Institute from 2005-2014. He has contributed extensively to the area of

molecular biophysics and chemical biology in a career spread over four decades. As the Editor of Current Science from 1995 to 2013 he authored over 300 editorials on a wide range of topics of interest to the scientific community in India. He has been associated with a number of advisory bodies of the government including the National Knowledge Commission (2007-2010), the Science Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (2005-2014) and the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Union Cabinet (SAC-C, 2001-2017). Professor Balaram is a recipient of several awards and honours, including Padma Shri (2002); Padma Bhushan (2014). He is a Fellow of Indian Academy of Science, Bangalore; INSA, New Delhi, National Academy of Sciences (Allahabad) and The Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, Trieste, Italy (TWAS). He is currently Professor Emeritus, Molecular Biophysics Unit, IISc and DST Year of Science Chair Professor, National Centre for Biological Sciences (TIFR) Bangalore.

Guest of Honour: Shri Raj Shekhar Vyas, Additional Director General, All India Radio, Doordarshan, New Delhi

Shri Raj Shekhar Vyas is an internationally renowned writer, editor, director and producer who has written and published more than 63 books, 4000 articles, as well as produced and directed more than 2000 short films and documentaries in various languages. He has pioneered three documentaries on Ujjaini, his motherland, named Jayati Jaya Ujjaini, Kaal, and The Time. Amongst his accolades, meritorious fellowship ABU/ AIBD by the Ministry of Sanskrit, Government of France, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of India, find special mention.

Professor Tarun Das is presently, Registrar, University of Delhi. Prior to this position, he served as Joint Director, Cluster Innovation Centre, University of Delhi. Prior to joining University of Delhi, he was Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. He had served the Baroda University for more than 20 years in various capacities including Head of the Department of Mathematics and Vice Dean, Faculty of Science. He is currently serving as Honorary Treasurer of the Indian Society for History of Mathematics and has served as Sectional President of Mathematical Section of ISCA.

Guest of Honour: Prof. Payal Mago, Joint Dean of Colleges, University of Delhi Prof. Payal Mago, Principal, Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women, University of Delhi currently holds the position of Joint Dean of Colleges, University of Delhi. She has 25 years of teaching and administrative experience in the field of education planning. She has also been a member in the committee for the purpose of control and supervision of experiments on animals (CPCSEA), Ministry of Environment and Forest and climate Change Government of India. As member standing committee (Ministry of Human Resource Development) she looked into the working of women studies. She has recently been awarded Lifetime Achievement Award by 'Women's Agency for Generating Employment'.

The Journey Begins years are witness to the stellar path Keshav Mahavidyalaya has

traversed, reaching beyond its goalposts and carving a niche for itself in a very short span of time. The college began its beautiful journey under the guidance and vision of its founder principal Dr. K.P. Chinda. Since its inception, the college has dedicated itself to inspire and enable its students to meet the challenges of a knowledge-based society and to compete in a global scenario. It emphasises on seamlessly integrating theoretical concepts with practical knowledge anchored by an enabling infrastructure and environment of learning. The mission of the college is to achieve excellence in diverse fields of teaching and learning. The faculty and students have always endeavoured to fulfil their responsibilities of good citizenship and service in their chosen areas of study. The college firmly believes in the principle of inclusion and equal opportunities for all through its various endeavours. Keshav Mahavidyalaya

1994 Inauguration of college on 27th August, 1994. College started with two courses B.Com. (H) and B.Sc. (G) with

Computer Science. 1995 Introduction of B.Sc. (H) Electronics and PGDCA.

1996 Introduction of B.Sc. (G) Mathematical Science.

1997 Introduction of B.Sc. (H) Computer Science.

1998 B.Sc. (H) Computer Science got converted to BIS.

1999 Introduction of BCA which got converted to BIT.

2003 Late Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Hon’ble Chief Minister of NCT Delhi

laid the foundation stone for the new building at Pitampura on

March 23, 2003.

2005 Inauguration of new building on November 27, 2005 by Shri B.

L. Joshi, the then Hon’ble Lt. Governor of NCT of Delhi.

Dr. M. C. Jain was appointed as OSD for the period during

which Dr. Chinda was on leave.

2006 Inauguration of fully air-conditioned college auditorium on

September 19, 2006 by Late Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Hon’ble Chief

Minister of NCT Delhi.

2007 Four new courses namely, Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS),

B.Sc. (H) Mathematics, B.A. (H) Psychology and B.Sc. (H)

Physics added.

Certificate Courses in German and French Language

introduced.

On December 28, 2007 the founder Principal Dr. K. P. Chinda

superannuated, Dr. Ajay Arora took over as Acting Principal.

2009 Dr. Madhu Pruthi, joined as permanent Principal of the college

on October 22, 2009.

2012 Inauguration of Girls’ Hostel on September 21, 2012 by Late

Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Hon’ble Chief Minister of NCT Delhi.

2014 Establishment of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).

2016 Accreditation of college with ‘A’ Grade by NAAC.

Academic Excellence

We proudly look back at the University Positions that the students achieved right in the initial years of each course that was started in Keshav Mahavidyalaya. B.Sc. (G) Computer Science that was started in 1994 witnessed I, II and III University position in 1995, 1996 and 1997 respectively. The course also had students with II University position in 1999 and I position in 2000. The University positions for the course continued thereafter in the years 2001 and 2002. B.Sc. (H) Electronics that was started in 1995, had students bagging II position in University in the second year in 1998. Year 2000 witnessed I position in first, second and third year. The course continued to have University positions in later years too. PGDCA which began in 1995 saw students bag I and III positions in its very first year in 1996, II position in 1999, again I position in 2000 and II in 2004. B.Sc. (G) Mathematical Science which was offered in the college in 1996, had students bag I University position in the first year and III University position in the third year in 1999. The academic merit continued to accrue with University positions in 2002, 2004, 2007 and 2011. B.Sc. (H) Computer Science became a highly sought-after course at Keshav Mahavidyalaya largely because of the meritorious results it produced year after year. The course was started in 1996 and was renamed as BIS in 1998. It witnessed a series of University positions, namely, I and II position in first year in 1998, II and III positions in first year in 1999, III position in second year in 1999, I position in third year in 2000, II and III position in third year in 2000, I position in fourth year in 2001 and I position in second semester in 2001. Later when the course was again converted to B.Sc. (H) Computer Science the University positions continued in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011.

Students from courses like BBS, B.A. (H) Psychology, B.Sc. Physical Science

and B.Sc. (H) Mathematics have also brought laurels to the college by wining

I University Positions over the years.

Excellence in Sports

The students of the college have been excelling on the sports front as well.

Three students have bagged gold medals in Netball and Taekwondo at

international level. Sixty students have bagged medals at national and inter

University level in different sports. Ninety students have bagged positions at

inter college level.

The Path Ahead

The college seeks to be an exemplary institution for advancement of the knowledge base of students through excellent pedagogy. The college has always encouraged its staff members to pursue their academic goals of acquiring higher qualifications. Faculty members of the college are actively involved in research and have published their research papers in reputed international and national journals. Out of 47 permanent faculty members of the college, 39 have completed their Ph.D. and many are pursuing their Ph.D. degrees. Three teachers went abroad for post graduation under Faculty Training Program. Seven teachers of the college are supervising Ph.D. students and two teachers have been awarded UGC sponsored projects. Accolades have been won in sports by faculty. Many faculty members have been involved either in innovation projects or independent research projects. Participation in innovation projects has given a platform to the students and teachers alike for interacting, working together and enhancing research aptitude. The college actively supports the holistic development and progression of its students for higher education, employment or entrepreneurial ventures. The students from underprivileged sections, overseas students, differently abled and students with learning difficulties are provided special attention and care. Scholarships and financial aid are offered to all desirous and deserving students. By successfully synergizing the pillars of intellectual, spiritual, emotional and professional growth, the college has, over the years, built a reputation of being one of the best off-campus colleges of the University of Delhi. The college believes that a literate and educated society is important for the intellectual growth and development of the citizens and the nation itself.
