track an individual piece of mail
through the postal system.
An excellent tool to provide
visibility and measure delivery
trends.
Good for mailers, good for
USPS.
You can go from USPS™ raw data….
… to business intelligence!
Two ways to use IMb Tracing
Destination option
For outgoing mail
Provides information about the
status of a mailpiece and when it
will reach it’s destination
Origin option
For incoming mail
Enables mailers to anticipate
when customers' checks, replies,
etc. are in the mail.

Package Visibility enabled by Impb™
• Package Visibility is significantly improved with the rollout of the Intelligent
Mail® Package Barcode (or IMpb)
– Allows the USPS® to track packages much like private carriers
(FedEx®, UPS®)
– Replaces USPS Delivery Confirmation (with USPS Tracking)
– A Barcode is included on every package
– Provides customers full visibility to package tracking information while
the parcel is in the system
• USPS continues to increase the number of scan events on every item
– Domestic items typically receive the following types of events, such as
Time in Transit, Out for Delivery and final Delivery or Notice of Left
– This will allow the USPS to better monitor and ultimately improve transit
times across their network
