A five Days Workshop on
"Application’s of PLC and SCADA"
A five days workshop on “Application’s of PLC and SCADA” was held
during 26th
- 30th
April 2016, organized by Department of Instrumentation Engineering at
Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering & Technology, Vishnupuri, Nanded,
an autonomous institute affiliated to the Government of Maharashtra state. It was
sponsored by TEQIP-II of Government of India.
The workshop focused on practical aspect of role of PLC and SCADA in Core
Industries. The workshop was entirely planned and coordinated by Dr. R. H. Chile, Dr. S.
T. Hamde and Mr. J. G. Parkhe. Experts for the workshop were Mr. Venkata Sarath and
Mr. Sayed MD Asadur Rahman, Innovians Technology, Noida, U. P. The inaugural
function of the workshop was held at 09.30 AM on April 26, 2016. The inauguration
accomplished in the presence of the invited experts Mr. Venkata Sarath and Mr. Sayed
MD Asadur Rahman, Dr. V. G. Asutkar, Head, Department of Instrumentation
Engineering, Dr. R. H. Chile, Dr. S. T. Hamde Professor, Department of Instrumentation
Engineering. The inauguration was anchored by Ms. Kalyani Aundhekar, Student from
Department of Instrumentation Engineering.

The Day 1 included the session on introduction to PLC, types of PLCs and programming PLCs. During this session SCADA
development tools and PLC programming tools are summarized. Installation of Micrologics 1200c a PLC programming tool was
covered during this session.
The day 2 is covered with continuation of SCADA development for basic applications. Theoretical session with hands on training
regarding SCADA developing tool was discussed throughout the day.
The day 3 and day 4 included PLC programming for various applications. The industrial applications are covered during this session.
The Day 5 focused on more practice on PLC programming, SCADA development and Human Machine Interface. The fifth day was
concluded by valedictory function with felicitation of experts, followed by HOD and faculty member’s address and certificate
distribution. The students gave feedbacks about the workshop and the function ended with vote of thanks. Around 44 students from
T.Y. B.Tech Instrumentation actively participated in the workshop.

“Product Lifecycle Management”
Department of Mechanical Engineering organised a Faculty
development program during 25th
to 30th
May2016, on concepts
of “Product Lifecycle Management”. The program was
coordinated by Dr. JVL Venkatesh (Head, Department of
Mechanical Engineering) and Mr. Rajmore K.G. and Kondekar
G. R. worked as organising faculty members. Industry experts
Mr. Kiranjeet singh Sandhu, Siemens GDC, Pune (25th
to 27th
May 2016) and Mr. Suhas Chaudhary, Parametric Technologies
Ltd. Pune (28th
to 30th
May 2016) played a role of speaker cum
Trainer (Resource Person) for this program. These industry
experts have taught the basics of product lifecycle management
(PLM) to participants aided with hands on practice with PLM
tools.

The program was aimed to spread the knowledge of Product
Lifecycle Management to faculty in nearby institutes.Initially it
was planned for 20 participants but later nearly 27 participants
were registered from different institutes by paying nominal
registration fees of Rs. 1000 each. Research scholars hadonly Rs.
500 fees, however registration fees wasacquiredaiming to
compensate charges of registration and lunch only. Departmental
facilities like computers and PLM software (Teamcenter8,
Windchill 10.2, Nx.4 and Creo 3.0) were provided free of cost.
The program was held for six days from 25th to 30th May 2016,
covering different topics as given below.

A Guest Lecture on
Opportunities for higher studies 25

Dept. of Mechanical Engineering of SGGS IE&T
conducted a Guest lecture for the M. Tech PLM and M.
Tech. CAD/CAM students on “Opportunities for higher
studies in renowned institutes in India’. Institutes like
IITS and NITS and their admission process for getting
admission to Ph. D. are elaborated by Mr. Sanjay
Waigaonkar. He has included important information for
getting admissions in BITS, Pilani and Goa also. He has
given overview of research work going on at BITS and
under his guidance also. All the participants interacted and
discussed their doubts with the guest speaker. The
participants expressed their satisfaction about the guest
lecture and gave positive feedback about the speaker and
the session arrangement as well. TEQIP II Sponsored Expert Lecture on
Challenges in wireless communication Nowdays, Wireless communication is emerging area. Intensive
research is going on in this area. We have invited Dr. Abhay S. Gandhi
– Associate Dean, VNIT, Nagpur and Dr. Prabhat Kumar, Assistant
Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication
Engineering, VNIT, Nagpur for expert talk on this topic. Dr. Abhay
Gandhi spoke about Challenges in Radio Frequency Design and its
related issues with continuation with this Dr. Prabhat Kumar spoke
about Achieving High Data Rates Using Full Duplex Cooperative
Relaying. This expert lectures enhanced understanding of current
challenges in Wireless communications of Research scholars. All the
participants interacted with the experts and cleared their doubts. Dr. U.
V. Kulkarni & Mrs. M. S. Mahindrakar worked as Course
Coordinators to conduct this session successfully. Dr. Abhay S. Gandhi addressing the students
IBM Mainframe Course
The Dept. of CSE conducted a IBM Mainframe Course Program on 27th
April, 2016. The course was for the students those who have
completed the IBM Mainframe Technology Program. The course was to make students aware about the future job opportunities in
IBM. More than 100 students were present for the program. At the end of the program there was the Certificate Distribution
Ceremony for all the students those who have completed the IBM Mainframe Technology Course.

“Matlab in Research and Data Analytics”

Looking at the need of M.Tech Students and Research Scholars Department of Information Technology has organized One Week
STTP On Matlab in Research and Data Analytics from May 2- May 7, 2016 sponsored by Center of Excellence in Signal and Image
Processing. We received huge response to the course from all over Maharashtra. The total number of participants registered are 122.
Total inflow (IRG) generated Rs. 1,59,000/-

Professor, NIT Warangal, and Dr. Rajan Chile, Dr. JVL Megha, Prof. M V Vaidya and Prof. Pakle.

Dr. U. S. N. Raju was chief guest and key note speaker for the Inauguration Program. He addressed the audience and explained the

Matlab basics were covered in first two days by Dr. B. M. Patre, Professor and Head, Department of Electrical Engineering,
SGGSIET, Nanded. The contents delivered are:
Working with the MATLAB user interface, Analyzing vectors and matrices, Visualizing vector and matrix data, Working with data
files, Complex Numbers, Matrices, Arrays, Functions, Plots, 2D-3D Plots; Automating commands with scripts; Writing programs
with logic and flow control etc.

toolbox and related research areas using MATLAB. Dr. Suhas Gajre felicitated him.

Big Data Analytics 20-25 June, 2016
Department of computer science and engineering has conducted a one week short term training Programme on “Big Data
Analytics” under TEQIP-II. This training program was conducted on 20-25 June, 2016 during 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The speaker of
this training was Dr. U. S. N. Raju Asst. Professor, Dept. of CS&E, and N.I.T. Warangal.
Training has been inaugurated in presence of Dr. L. M. Waghmare, Director of SGGSIE&T and Prof. P. S. Nalawade, HOD,
CSE Dept. SGGSIET, Nanded on June 20, 2016 at 09:30 AM in A4 Hall. Total 82 including student and faculty members
participated in this training. SGGSIE&T Student as well Faculty had charged Rs.1000 and other than Student as well as Faculty had

Department of Computer Science and Engineering has conducted a two days workshop on “Big Data and Text Analytics”
under TEQIP-II program. This workshop was conducted on 11 & 12 April 2015 during 9:30 AM to 6:00 PMand the speaker of this
workshop was Mr. Prathamesh Kalamkar, Data scientist, Cap Gemini and Ms. Shrida Girme from Big Data Developer, Pune.
Workshop was inaugurated by Dr. L. M. Waghmare, Director of SGGSIE&T Nanded on April 11, 2015 at 09:30 AM in
CCF and in presence of Prof. S. S. Hatkar, In-charge HOD, Dept of CSE. Total 101 participants including student and faculty
registered and attended this workshop. Registration fees for the course was Rs.50/- only for faculty & student of SGGSIE&T and for
