MICROSOFT OFFICE 2010
The remarkable accumulation to Office
2010 is the introduction of Office Web
Apps. The lightweight versions of Word,
PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote that
are all accessible via desktop, mobile
devices, and web browsers Internet
Explorer and Firefox assist in our
delivery of report and office
communications.
Backstage View
Backstage is essentially one-stop shopping for information about documents and common tasks we can perform, such as saving and printing files.
The Info tab in Backstage is particularly useful, giving us imperative information about our existing file, such as the author and the last time it was modified, and letting us evaluate earlier versions.
Photo editing tools Also enhanced in Office 2010 are the photo-editing tools. We can easily select a photo or picture we've placed in a document, and a Format tab will appear with tools for editing images in a variety of ways, including sharpening or softening, changing the contrast and color saturation, cropping, eliminating the background, and adding a variety of "artistic effects.“ This facilitate the staff and our constituents to create more interesting documents with photos and take out the creativity of the children in our center to produce more realistic stories that we can share to the media and the bigger society.
Networking and collaboration
New co-authoring features in Excel, OneNote, and Word allow us to publish documents for collaboration, where individual team members can "check out" different sections of the same document for editing. Correspondingly, we can now broadcast our slideshows over the Internet:
Microsoft Word 2010
The new version of Word also makes it easier for us to insert pictures. We can now make significant edits once it's in our document:, such as adjusting the brightness and contrast, changing the image to grey scale, adding drop shadows, and more.
Those who like to pretty up documents will be pleased by a few new additions. We can now add special effects such as glow, reflect and shadow to text. There's also support for more sophisticated typography, such as using ligatures and small caps. For the children in our center this new version gives them delight in editing their documents.
EXCEL 2010
Outlook improvements
Outlook 2010 also makes it easier to administer conversations.
For example, if we want to forward a message to our colleagues,
instead of clicking forward and then typing their addresses into
the To box, we can just click the To link and the forwarded
message appears with the address already entered.
Photo/video/graphics in Word and PowerPoint
The photo-editing tools have gotten more sophisticated in Office
2010. We can apply artistic effects from within Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint. We can even get a thumbnail preview of what the
effect will look like when we applied it the picture.
The Office 2010 applications also include several new SmartArt
designs, to make it more likely that you’ll find one that fits the
needs of your document or slide.
NGO’s like us needs more designs especially in creating
presentations that will suit to the needs of the children in our
center and stakeholders.
Simultaneous editing
We often leave a document that we’re working on open on
one computer, and then need to open and work on it from a
different computer. Now we can pick up where we left off, or
two people can edit a document simultaneously.
Word can also cache shared documents so we can edit them
when were offline, and any changes we make will
automatically be synchronized with the original on the server
when we come back online.
POWERPOINT 2010
We can easily embed video clips from the Internet
into our PowerPoint presentations just the way we
embed Flash videos in regular web pages.
Built-in PDF Writer
All Office 2010 programs include a built in PDF
writer to help us save documents into the PDF
format with a click.
Document printing made simple
With Office 2010, Microsoft has completely revamped
the print dialog and it's a tremendous improvement. For
instance, we can tweak printer settings and preview the
changes side-by-side.
Video Editing and PowerPoint
PowerPoint 2010 now includes some very powerful
editing features.
Distribute your slides as video
PowerPoint 2010 helps us convert our presentation into a
video file that we may upload on to YouTube or other social
networking site.
Microsoft Publisher
We felt Microsoft Publisher was one of the easiest desktop
publishing programs to use. The control panel is easy to use and
the many templates are easy to edit. Microsoft Publisher has a
great variety of clipart and images as well as online resources for
downloading additional images.
Microsoft Publisher has some good printing and file sharing
options, including commercial printing tools that allow us to
choose whether or not to embed true type fonts as well as subset
font embedding. We can also set our registration printing settings
to "for publication" or "per object."
