    Aims and Objectives

    General aims for second cycle education

    Second-cycle courses and study programmes shall involve the acquisition of specialist knowledge,competence and skills in relation to first-cycle courses and study programmes, and in addition tothe requirements for first-cycle courses and study programmes shall- further develop the ability of students to integrate and make autonomous use of their knowledge- develop the students' ability to deal with complex phenomena, issues and situations, and- develop the students' potential for professional activities that demand considerable autonomy, orfor research and development work.

    Course Objectives

    This course will present the basics of Soft computing and its application areas particularly tointelligent systems. Topics that will be discussed include SC and hybrid intelligent systems,neurofuzzy systems and adaptive control systems.

    Main Content of the Course

    This course covers the following topics:- fuzzy systems and their properties- identification of fuzzy model- non adaptive fuzzy control systems- adaptive fuzzy control systems- neurofuzzy system and

    - fuzzy classification and decision making.

    Teaching Methods

    The course will be given in the form of a number of lectures and laboratory exercises and projectwork.

    Students who have been admitted to and registered on a course have the right to receive tuitionand/or supervision for the duration of the time period specified for the particular course to whichthey were accepted (see, the university's admission regulations (in Swedish)). After that, the rightto receive tuition and/or supervision expires.

    Examination MethodsExamnination, 7.5 higher education credits. (Code: 0100)To pass the course students are expected to achieve a passing grade the course on a number ofassignments and oral presentations.

    Grades

    Unless otherwise prescribed in the course syllabus, a grade is to be awarded on completion of acourse. The grade is to be determined by a teacher specifically appointed by the higher educationinstitution (an examiner) (Chapter 6, Section 18, Higher Education Ordinance).

    Unless the higher education institution prescribes another grading system, one of the followinggrades is to be used: fail, pass, or pass with distinction (Chapter 6, Section 19, Higher EducationOrdinance).

    Grades used on course are Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with Distinction (VG).
