A Note From Our Principal

Dear QP Families,

Well….this is it. The end of the oddest school year in memory. Thank you

for the way you all persisted and endured. I know it was not easy. But we

rallied and pushed ahead. The finish line is here.

Now eyes turn toward next year, looking for some sign of things to come.

As I described in last week’s Viking Voice, we will enter planning mode right

away for the 2020-2021 school year. As we map out the terrain, I will keep

you all informed.

Thanks to all who responded to the hot lunch/pizza lunch survey. We will

disburse funds soon. We will do so consistent with the wishes you

expressed in the survey.

Thanks as well to those who have placed a facemask order! I am including

the order link here for those who may have missed it the first time around:

QP Facemask Order Form

I am anticipating facemask delivery at some point in June. I will notify you

when your order has arrived!

As previously announced, the new Makerspace Coordinator position will be

staffed by Missy Moser next year. We are genuinely excited to bring the

Makerspace into full operation and to have Mrs. Moser at its helm. It will be

a great enhancement to the curriculum.

However, the creation of the Makerspace position has

led to the elimination of the Tech Director position. So,

while Josh Shortt will not be a part of our staff next year,

he will be starting a new journey as Tech Director at St.

Dominic School in Delhi. Congratulations, Mr. Shortt!

Mr. Shortt has served the students and teachers at

Queen of Peace School for the last 7 years, driving in

every day from Kentucky to do so. I want to express my

own appreciation for everything he has done over the

past year to help me understand the various technologies and software

systems in use at QP. He explained things clearly and was always available

to help whenever needed. Thank you, Mr. Shortt! Good luck on your new

journey!

Farewell to our 8th graders! Yesterday we

held small individual recognition ceremonies

for each 8th grader. Each ceremony featured

a recollection of memories over the years, a

Viking helmet, confetti, cookies and balloons,

a prayer and blessing, a certificate of

graduation, a personal-size Larosa’s pizza,

and lots of cowbell. Of our 16 graduates, 12

are headed to Badin, 2 to Ross, 1 to

Talawanda, and 1 to La Salle. Please come back and visit us, Graduates!

A private Graduation Mass is scheduled for June 16th.

Stay tuned next week for a special edition of the Viking Voice! It will include

each 8th grader’s profile that was recently posted to social media. Following

the “special edition,” there will be one Viking Voice newsletter in June and

one in July. In addition to the newsletters, I will continue to stay in touch

with everyone via OptionC Alerts.

From me to all of you….THANK YOU for all the kindness and support

during my first year as principal of QP School. This is such a magnificent

community to belong to. I am grateful.

Sincerely,

Mr. Mears

Cincinnati, public Masses will begin on Monday, May 25. See this and next week’s bulletins for

more details on how we at Queen of Peace will begin to once again publicly celebrate Mass and

what changes are in store.
