Why are they so useful?

Quality of information

“I tried to warn him –

garbage in, garbage out.”

The end produce is only as good as the base information – Start with reliable information!

Scan to BIM Top 10 Tips

Cloudworx for Revit

1) Build in two co-ordinate systems : GPS & Principle Elevation.

2) Create a known offset if more than 20km away from 0,0.

3) Co-ordinate 2D AutoCAD information with the point cloud.

4) Sensible sub-divisions : Internal / External, Floor / Floor, Site / Buildings.

5) When imported don’t move the scan, leave it pined.

6) Setup some 3D working views to help trim the Scan – Plan & Elevations.

7) Setup Revit shortcuts keys for the box fence, regenerate, etc.

8) Build up the detail in stages, walls, roofs, floors, doors, windows, etc.

9) Use Revit’s standard tools to build from – avoid in-place.

10) Copy sketched overlays into a 2D detail family first.
