● The client will be greeted with aloha

and will be assessed by the dental

hygiene student and through

teledentistry, the dentist.

● Gather diagnostic information such as

extra oral and intra oral images and

radiographs for the dentist to review.

● The preventive and therapeutic

services will be authorized and care

will be delivered. The clients will

receive dental cleanings, periodontal

therapy, dental sealants, fluoride, and




other dental hygiene services.

● All clients who need complex dental

treatment will be referred to

the dentist for care.



Dental Assessment



● The teledental hygienist gathers dental assessment information such as medical and

dental history, oral health status, indices for plaque bacteria biofilm, calculus

indicies, and performs oral cancer examinations.

● The extraoral and intraoral photographs are taken and uploaded to the client's digital



chart in the laptop computer software.

HIPAA CompliantDental practice management software allows us to keep Electronic Health Records (EHR), all while protecting the

client's privacy to adhere to the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The EHR information

will be securely transmitted to the dentist for evaluation.



Oral EvaluationThe periodontal status and oral health status of the client is evaluated. Periodontal probing depths are inputted into

the computer for real time viewing from the teledentist.

Dental Assessment


● The teledental hygienist gathers dental assessment information such as

medical and dental history, oral health status, indices for plaque bacteria

biofilm, calculus indicies, and performs oral cancer examinations.

● The extraoral and intraoral photographs are taken and uploaded to the client's




digital chart in the laptop computer software.

Dental RadiographsRadiographs can be taken with portable equipment which includes the NOMAD 2, laptop computer, and digital sensors. All diagnostic information is transmitted to the dentist for evaluation and recommendations.



● Radiographs are taken with all portable equipment.

● Teledentistry hygienist calls or text messages the dentist to evaluate and

interpret all images, dental chart, periodontal chart, and other information.

Oral Evaluation



● Dental chart is created using Dentrix software on the laptop computer and transmitted to the

network for the teledentist to view.

● The periodontal status and oral health status of the client is evaluated.

● Periodontal probing depths are inputted into the computer for real time viewing from the

teledentist.
