Welcome & Introductions
Purpose of the PSSD Virtual Academy
The purpose of the PSSD Virtual Academy is to provide additional support for families due to concerns related to COVID-19.

Virtual Learning Contract
Student Expectations 1. Be available, as directed by the teacher(s), on school days, to participate in online learning activities. 2. Participate each school day in every enrolled class. 3. Attend meetings at school, if required (by appointment, adhering to social distancing guidelines). 4. Seek help from the teacher, as needed. 5. Complete and submit all coursework on time. 6. Communicate with your teacher and peers in a respectful manner. 7. Ensure that you have access to online courses during school hours, and can complete assignments after school hours.8. Acknowledge that the school district has access to your schoolwork and comments posted within the online courses.
Attendance
Students are considered absent from the Virtual Academy for that day if they fail to connect to learning sessions with the facilitator/teacher at the designated time. If a child is sick or unable to attend a live session, the Learning Coach (family member or caregiver) will need to communicate with the teacher prior to the session.
Virtual Learning Contract
Parent Expectations 1. Ensure that your child has the necessary equipment and internet access to participate in Virtual School. 2. Provide your student with a safe and appropriate place to work while at home. 3. Ensure that your student has sufficient time in his/her schedule to work each day on the scheduled courses. 4. Become familiar and be able to assist your student if they need Microsoft Team.5. Encourage your child to seek help from the teacher, as needed. 6. Ensure that all tests and work is completed by your child without the aid of others. 7. Be aware of all deadlines. 8. Communicate academic concerns with teachers as necessary.
Learning Coach
The learning coach (parent/guardian/other) of the student will need to be available and committed to serving in this capacity during the school day hours. The role of a Learning Coach is to: ● Provide academic support, motivation, and guidance throughout the school year ● Ensure student is up to date on assignments and coursework ● Communicate regularly with teachers ● Alert teachers to any absence requests ● Monitor student engagement in live whole group and small group sessions ● Daily support student with online or offline learning activities ● Lead offline activities and help your child develop foundational skills ● Create a location in the home that can serve as a dedicated learning space for your child
Virtual Learning Contract
District Expectations: Students and parents can expect...1. The school will develop and explain the Virtual School process and expectations so that students and parents can make informed decisions when choosing to participate in Virtual School. 2. Teachers will be available during scheduled hours (as communicated by the teacher) to provide academic assistance, when needed. 3. If the student has an active 504 Plan or IEP, the district will help determine if the accommodations and support can be delivered virtually or if they will have to be modified. 4. When students select the option for virtual school, they may choose to come back to in-school classes.
Material Expectations: Students and parents are expected to…1. Adhere to the Code of Conduct and Acceptable Use Policy while participating in Virtual School. 2. Return consumable materials upon re-entry to school.

Materials Pick Up and Return to School
Some teachers may have materials to be picked up weekly. That will be communicated with you by the teacher.
Materials can be delivered and returned on busses if your child is getting a school lunch delivered.
Materials may also be picked up and returned to a central location at each school. That will also be communicated by your teacher.

What is Microsoft Teams
• Think of Microsoft Teams (Teams) as your child’s link to learning.
• Teachers use Teams to share assignments, homework, video chat, and correspond with students.
Getting Started
Your child can access Office 365via Classlink on school web pages or on
their school supplied laptop.
Click HERE for directions on installing Chrome on your home device.
Accessing Office 365 if not using Classlink
Access Office.com through any browser. However, Chrome is highly recommended.
Your student will also be able to log in to the Office 365 portal at office.com with their email address and password.

Once you are logged in you will see you have access to all of the Microsoft 365 apps. This is also where you will find Teams. Click on the Teams Tile.

• You can download the Microsoft TEAMS app on your phone if you wish
• You will just need to use your child’s credentials to set that up.

Navigating Teams
1. Menu of Teams –To get back to other teams2. Current Team –The Class you are currently looking at3. Chat –Private chat with teacher4. Assignments –If teacher assigns work through teams this is one of the places it can be found5. Calendar –This is where meetings with the teacher will be found.6. Team Stream –If your student has a question for the teacher or is ok with the class seeing the question. This is also for class discussions. 7. Tabs –Places that your teacher wants you to easily access. (Class text book, Class Notebook, assignments, etc.)
