WELCOME LETTER TO COACHES AND STUDENTS
Future Problem Solving Program International Teaching students how to think, not what to think
Dear FPS Coaches and Students,
Congratulations on completing an amazing year of FPS! Every IC registration provides the opportunity for
additional students to participate in the MAGIC program (Multi-Affiliate Global Issue Competition). This event
invites students that know the FPS GIPS process together to complete a booklet with new friends.
For the IC 2020 MAGIC event students will be grouped with others in similar time zones to form teams to
compete together using their knowledge of the 6 step process responding to a Future Scene on the topic of
Terraforming. Students will have the opportunity in the week before the competition to connect with their
new teammates via the FPSOnline system. Then at a time of the team’s choice within the designated
competition window on Friday-Saturday, 26-27 June, they will collaborate (in English) within the FPSOnline
system to complete a GIPS booklet with 8 challenges and 8 solutions.
Information in this packet will help you prepare for the MAGIC event – please read thoroughly and carefully.
Questions about the competitions or events can be answered by your Affiliate Director or via our FAQs at
fpspi.org/icfaq. For specific questions regarding invoices or special needs contact [email protected] or call
(321) 768-0074 during the hours of 8:30-5:00 Eastern Time Monday-Friday. Coordinators should pay close
attention to messages after registration ends for specifics about the event!
Congratulations,
April Michele Executive Director

the registration process.
Complete the registration process by progressing through each menu item.

ONLINE FORMS
NEW THIS YEAR FOR THE COORDINATOR: You must have the parent’s/guardian’s email address for each student that
is registered before registration can be finalized.
We have introduced a new process to collect the Publication Release Statement of Authenticity and the Competitor
Rules & Regulations Contract for students attending the 2020 International Conference. During the registration process,
the coordinator will indicate if the student is a competitor or non-competitor. While adding these students, they will see
a new field labelled, “Parent/Guardian Email.” This is a required field in order for you to add each participant and
continue with the registration.
Once registration is completed and the coordinator has
pressed the “Finalize” button, an automated email will be
sent to the parent/guardian email address provided. In
this email, there will be a link that will take the
parent/guardian to an online form, where they can review
the terms for Publication Release Statement of
Authenticity and Competitor Rules & Regulations contract
for students. To agree to the terms, they must:
1. Check the box next to each term
2. Type the participant’s name into the “Signature of Participant” field
3. Type their name into the “Signature of Parent/Guardian” field
4. Check the box agreeing to all terms
5. Then press the “I Agree to the Above Terms” button

This will complete the contract submission and send a notice to the International Office that the contract has been
signed and submitted for that participant. Any registrations that do not have this step completed will not be
processed. The International Office will be checking to see who has not completed this step for all registrations that are
otherwise finalized, and will follow up with the Coordinator to ensure that this step has not been overlooked.
The emails sometimes get delivered to the spam or junk bins. So please be sure to let everyone know to check those
locations in their email accounts. If any parents/guardians missed the email, they can go to this link, enter the
Registration Number and the participant’s first and last name, and follow the steps above to complete their contract. If
there are any questions, please email Damien at [email protected].
REGISTRATION FEE
Each competitor must pay a registration fee of $75.00 (USD). The fee for MAGIC 2020 includes
evaluations, competition administration, and awards.
