We Need Your Help! - If you have information which you believe would add to our knowledge of aspecific species, please submit a rare species reporting form.

Search Our Database - Run on-line queries to find information on Virginia's 1600+ naturalheritage resources. You can search for information on individual or groups of resources, byscientific or common name, taxonomic group, federal or state legal status, global or state rarityrank. Plus, you can produce on-line lists of resources grouped and sorted by the differentgeographic references listed below.

All searches return HTML formatted lists including the scientific/common names, taxonomic group, global and state heritage rarity ranks, federal legal status under the U .S . Endangered Species Act,and Virginia state legal status.

Additionally, scientific names are hotlinked to NatureServe Explorer to provide more detailedspecies information.

NatureServe Explorer is a product of NatureServe, in collaboration with the NaturalHeritage Network. A source for conservation information on more than 50,000 plants, animals, and ecological communities of the United States and Canada, NatureServeprovides in-depth information on rare and endangered species, as well as common plantsand animals.

Species/Natural Community Query - Output also includes total number of known occurrencesstatewide.
