are within 12,5 to 29 Hz, packet groups within 2,8-7,6 Hz, and series 0,08 – 0,3 Hz, whereas median induction of the generated fields are significantly lower of those used in magnetotherapy.

Viofor JPS Clinic/Delux generates variable magnetic fields, which cause in the organismchanges similar to those caused by physical activity (physical exercise, physical activity), therefore support biological regeneration. Both mental and physical regeneration is tightly connected with exercise. Variable magnetic field plays a similar beneficial role.Magnetostimulation stimulates in the orga-nism electromotor forces of such properties, which enable homeostasis, and in case of its disturbance stimulate return to a normal state.

Biological effect of variable magnetic fieldgenerated by Viofor JPS Clinic/Delux is the result of:1. electrodynamic effect of such field on ion

currents in the organism2. magnetomechanic effect of the magnetic

field on particles with uncompensatedmagnetic spin

3. ionic cyclotron resonance of cations and anions in the body fluids.Body fluids i.e. blood, the lymph and inter-

cellular fluid constitute so-called second modeconductors of the ionic character of electrical conductivity.

The essence of the Viofor JPS System is the optimal choice of two different electrical (and thus magnetic) signals as well as their mutual combination, in order to achieve the aforementioned three fundamental mecha-nisms of variable magnetic field absorptionby the living matter. Electromagnetic radiation may affect an organism in various ways. De-pending on the amount of absorbed energy, a thermal effect and extra thermal effects occur. Extra thermal effects: bioelectric, bio-chemical and bioenergetic – due to the very low value of magnetic induction – are the most essential in magnetostimulation.1. The bioelectric effect causes normaliza-

tion in the potential of the cell membrane. In pathological cases, the potential drops

due to penetration through the cell mem-brane to the cell interior of positive ions, e.g. Na+ . In order to reverse this process, the cell needs energy, which can be ob-tained from ATP hydrolysis.

2. The biochemical effect is based on an increased enzymatic activity as well as reduced processes related with ATP.

3. The bioenergetic effect is a factor that stimulates the nutrition and growth of cells and regulates intercellular processes lead-ing to regeneration of the organism. The main biological effects of magneto-

stimulation mechanisms are actions:- regenerative- vasodilatatory- angiogenetic- stabilizing cell membranes- anti-inflammatory- relaxative- anti-spastic- analgesic.

Analgesic action takes place mainly due to an increase in the secretion of endog-enous opiates from the ß-endorphin group, a substance responsible for the increase in pain threshold. The effect of analgesic action occurs not only during exposure to magnetic fields, but is also observed after exposure isdiscontinued. This determines the biological hysteresis of magnetic field effect. Preciselysuch a mechanism of analgesic action on the internal opioid system confirms an antagonistof opiates blocking this effect (Naloxone).

The basis for regeneration effect is main-ly the intensification of the processes of oxy-gen utilization and tissue respiration as a re-sult of intensified diffusion as well as oxygencapture by hemoglobin and cytochrome. The increased capture of oxygen is associated with a stimulation of the processes of tissue respiration, DNA synthesis and acceleration of the mitotic cycle. Thanks to this, magnetic fields treat trophic lesions of the shank, acce-lerate the healing of ulcerous niches, improve the cellular metabolism of the central nervous system and accelerate regeneration of da-maged peripheral nerves.

Very weak currents generated due to inter-action on piezoelectric substances e.g. colla-gen, stimulate the activity of osteoblasts. It is aided by intensification of vasodilatatory ef-fects. It has also been observed that a mag-netic field inhibits demineralization processesof the bones and, at the same time, increases their mineralization – which is evaluated by densitometry.

Anti-inflammatory effect is connected with the stimulation of formation of c-AMP and E prostaglandin. Prostaglandin influencesthe accumulation of c-AMP, which decreases the secretion of inflammation mediators fromneutrophiles, basophiles, mastocytes and lymphocytes.

In case of the nervous system, magnetic fields also improve the interneuron conductivityand modulation of neuron activity as well as the pineal gland’s twenty-four hour rhythms of melatonin secretion, which is called “the scav-enger of free radicals” responsible, among others, for the aging process.

The variable magnetic fields generated bythe Viofor JPS clearly modify the amplitude value of alpha and theta wave rhythms in proper directions, characteristic for the physiological state of relaxation - objectively measurable and indicated by value of the demobilization of the autonomous system. The results of psycho-physical testing, as a part of psychotherapy of emotionally immature people point to mag-netostimulation as a method of choice for these people. What is more, it is a non-invasive meth-od applied equally in medicine as in psychology.

2.1.3 Contraindications to magnetostimulation

Contraindications concern the application of magnetostimulation as a method itself, and not the Viofor JPS Clinic/Delux apparatus. Emitted fields are a contraindication to ap-plication in an existing disease – whereas they are not a disease-developing factor. The diseases mentioned in contraindications have a source in other factors. At present, there is no information in literature describing the con-traindications to magnetostimulation. How-ever, when taking into consideration the com-paratively short application time of magneto-stimulation and similar physical character of

magnetotherapy, the contraindications should be the same as in case of magnetotherapy:- pregnancy- active neoplastic disease- active tuberculosis of the lungs- bleeding from the alimentary tract- serious infections of a viral, bacterial

and myframe bedic origin- the presence of electronic implants- conditions after organ transplants

Pregnancy is a state in which the dynam-ics of forming new tissues is the greatest. As a rule, apart from necessary actions, everything else should be avoided during pregnancy. Until now, the influence of magnetic fields on the fe-tus is unknown. Due to the lack of information on the effect of magnetic fields on the fetus, the application of variable magnetic fields inpregnancy should be considered inadvisable.

Neoplastic disease in the majority of cases has been of a vague etiology, and the natural history of neoplastic diseases is also known only in some cases. Experimental data regarding the effect of magnetic fields on neo-plastic cell cultures and animals with an active neoplastic disease are contradictory. In ac-cordance with the principle primum non nocere the application of variable magnetic fields ina neoplastic disease should not be used al-though much data indicates a positive effect of magnetic fields on neoplasms.

Active tuberculosis of the lungs is a contraindication to the application of mag-netic fields, which results from their interac-tive mechanisms with tissue. The influenceof magnetic fields on the utilization of oxygen,as well as on the blood flow, is beneficial.Koch’s bacilli are aerobes, therefore, based on knowledge of the biological effects of variable magnetic fields, in case of TBC, they shouldnot be applied.

Bleeding from the alimentary tract should be divided into massive hemorrhaging – from the varices of the gullet and peptic ul-cers – and bleeding accompanying diseases of the gastritis type. In the case of intensive bleeding, the therapy of choice is an endo-scopic or surgical intervention. In the case of bleeding observed with gastritis erosiva

Page 9: Viofor JPS System Clinic / Delux - User manual (En)

Application of Viofor JPS System Clinic/Delux

7

and gastritis haemorrhagica, caution is also recommended in the application of magnetic fields. In case of gastric ulcer the relaxativeand anti-spastic action of variable magnetic fields could be considered, but the decisionof their application in this disease should be consulted with a doctor, due to the fact that it is frequently accompanied by the gastritis.

Serious infections of a viral, bacterial and myframe bedic origin are a contrain-dication to the application of magnetic fields. Each type of these diseases should be treated by antiviral, antibiotic and antimy-frame bedic pharmaceuticals.

Electronic implants applied in modern medicine, in most cases have good screening from external interference. From a physical point of view, the fields applied in magneticfield therapy, particularly in magnetostimula-tion, have a small possibility of influencing theoperation of electronic implants. The person ordering the therapy rarely has knowledge of the electronic implant’s screening quality. In the case of an absence of this knowledge, it is safer to refrain from exposure of the patient to variable magnetic fields.

2.1.4 Side effects, which may occur due to magnetostimulation

Until now, no serious side effects of mag-netostimulation have been reported. The fol-lowing effects might occur temporarily:- tingling sensation - a numbing sensation- a warmth sensation- sleep disorders, particularly in elderly people- irritation- concentration disorders- a temporary intensification of pain.

A tingling, cramped and warmth sensa-tion may occur particularly in the first three orfour days of exposure. This concerns particularly post-traumatic areas of the osseous system.

Sleep disorders is observed only in ap-prox. 3% of older patients. They could be eas-ily eliminated by an exposure of increasing level of induction.

Irritation and/or concentration disorders concerns particularly women during meno-

pause as well as people with an increased tension of the neurovegetative system. The above symptoms are observed particularly in the first days after exposure. The frequency oftheir occurrence may decrease through the ap-plication of an increasing value of intensity as well as informing the patients of the possibility of their occurrence. These symptoms affect approx. 4% of women and 1% of men.

A temporary intensification of pain usu-ally occurs during the first period of exposureand affects people with significant degenera-tive changes of the osseous-joint system.

Summing up, after taking into consideration the above-presented observations, it should be stated that the application of variable magnetic fields, is safe and the progress of experimentaland Clinic/Deluxal knowledge will in all likelihood result in verification of the given information.

2.2 Magnetostimulation paired with light energy

2.2.1 Characteristics of magnetostimulation paired with light energy

The method of magnetostimulation paired with light energy utilizes the magnetic field ef-fect described in paragraph 2.1 of the Manual.

Light energy has a mainly topical effect on tissues. Its penetration inside the body de-pends on the light wavelength. Tissue reaction depends on energy absorption in each tissue layer. The absorption effectiveness is mainly affected by: tissue thickness, blood supply and flow, water content and presence of pig-ment. Infrared reactions start at the level of cell membrane, and reactions to red light – in mitochondria.

At the tissue level, mechanism of biologi-cal effect of variable magnetic fields and lightenergy are of similar nature. When applying magnetostimulation together with light, a sy-nergy effect could be expected, depending on individual characteristics.

Main biological effects of magnetostimula-tion paired with light energy should be: - improved oxygen assimilation by its car-

riers, which improves ATP synthesis in

Page 10: Viofor JPS System Clinic / Delux - User manual (En)

Application of Viofor JPS System Clinic/Delux

8

oxidation-reduction systems aerobic and anaerobic respiration path; increased ATP concentration is directly related to the increased activity of ATP-dependent enzymes, responsible, among others, for protein and collagen synthesis, which better stimulates tissue regeneration process

- strong stimulation of DNA synthesis and cell proliferation

- vasodilatation effect due to direct relaxation of vessel smooth muscular coat, related with accelerated processes of angiogenesis and tissue perfusion, which improves re-generation

- direct effect on liquid crystal membrane structure and on modification of membraneenzyme activity related with increased ATP-dependent ion pumps through increased ATP synthesis in mitochondria; each of the above processes leads to changed mem-brane permeability, thus to change in elec-trolyte and water distribution between cells or their organelle and surrounding areas; both processes have a strong anti-inflam-matory and anti-swelling effect

- restored ATP-dependent membrane pump activity, which has been lost due to dis-ease-related changes – sodium-potassium and calcium pumps in neurons, which leads to membrane hyperpolarization and stimu-lus blocking, even those of high amplitude; as a result, pain stimuli conduction in affer-ent fibers is decreased, therefore a clearanalgesic effect can be observed

- changed activity of serotoninergic synapses and stimulation of beta-endorphin release and stimulation of pituitary gland-adrenal gland axis accompanied by increased re-lease of glycocorticoids adds to a strong analgesic effect

- regulation of immune system and rheologi-cal blood properties.

2.2.2 Indications for magnetostimulation with light energyI. Analgesic effect 1. osseous-joint system:

- degeneration of the spine and osseous-joint system of the upper and lower limbs

- joint strain and injuries- rheumatoid inflammation of the joints- stiffening inflammation (rigor)

of the spinal joints2. soft tissue:

- extrajoint rheumatism – so-called fibromyalgia

- traumas of soft tissue- zoster- neuralgia

II. Regenerative effect- skin and soft tissue inflammation- skin and soft tissue post-inflammation

condition- psoriasis- bedsores- chronic and subacute arthritis- initial treatment prior to massage,

kinesitherapy and iontophoresis

III. Improvement of peripheral circulation1. improper local blood flow in the limbs:

- in diabetic angiopathy- in atherosclerotic angiopathy- in crural ulceration

2. accelerated absorption of haematomas3. decreased lymphatic oedema

IV. Anti-spastic effect- conditions after apoplectic stroke- degenerative diseases of the nervous

system, accompanied by spasticity

V. Decreased oxygen deficit and debtthrough affecting the processes of:- aerobic tissue respiration- anaerobic tissue respiration.

2.2.3 Contraindications to magnetostimulation and light energy treatment

Although there is no proof for negative effect of magnetostimulation on each body function, contraindications should be the same as in case of variable magnetic field (seeparagraph 2.1.3.). Special attention should be paid to local neoplastic changes and changes that are difficult to identify, predisposition to

9

bleeding as well as acute inflammation of skinand soft tissue in the area exposed to therapy. Patients who are administered drugs, which cause photosensitization or show symptoms of photosensitization should not be treated – it is easy to verify by checking patient’s history.

2.2.4 Side effects which may occur due to magnetostimulation with light energy treatment

No significant side effects should be ex-pected. The following effects might occur temporarily:- tingling sensation,- numbing sensation,- warmth sensation,- skin erythema in the area of treatment.

2.3 Magnetotherapy*

2.3.1 The essence of magnetotherapyIn Viofor JPS Clinic apparatus there have

been applied the most practically used param-eters of magnetotherapy. The generated signals are sinusoidal, triangular or rectangular, with frequencies from 5 to 40 Hz regulated incre-mentally every 5 Hz. Time set can be regulated incrementally from 10 to 30 minutes every 5 minutes. There is one binary flat applicator.

The application of variable magnetic fields inmedicine is based on biophysical effects of such fields on the living matter:- effect on uncompensated magnetic spins

of paramagnetic elements and free radi-cals as well as on diamagnetic molecules

- effect on liquid crystals in the organism, in particular on the components of cell mem-branes of liquid crystal properties

- effect on the structure of protein compo-nents of membrane channels and ion dis-tribution

- shift of moving electric charges as the re-sult of Lorentz’ force and Hall’s effect

- changes of certain physical-chemical prop-erties of water

- induced potential difference in the areas filled with electrolyte

- effect on depolarization of cells indicating automatism

- effect of structures with piezoelectric and magnetostrictive properties. The above-listed biophysical effects of

variable magnetic fields influence biologicaleffects of these fields and their therapeuticapplication:1. intensified process of oxygen utilization

and tissue respiration2. vasodilatatory and angiogenetic effect3. intensified regeneration of soft tissue4. accelerated process of bone union5. anti-inflammatory and anti-swelling effect6. analgesic effect7. modification of membrane transport and

ion distribution.

2.3.2 Indications for magnetotherapy with Viofor JPS Clinic

I. Motor system diseases - delayed union of fractured bone- complications of endoprosthesoplasty

of hip joint related with lack of stability of endoprosthesis

- pseudoarthrosis- complications related to surgical

bone extension- osteoporosis- Sudeck’s syndrome- degenerative joint disease and arthritis- states after bone fractures- states after joint injury

II. Diseases of nervous system- diabetic angiopathy- atherosclerotic angiopathyIII. Diseases of skin and soft tissue- skin and soft tissue wounds- bacterial infection of skin and soft tissue- burns- keloid- crural ulceration and trophic lesions.

2.3.3 Contraindications to magnetotherapy

Despite the lack of proof for negative effect of variable magnetic field of therapeutic pa-rameters on body functions, there are however certain contraindications to magnetotherapy.

10

Presently the most common contraindica-tions are as follows:

Pregnancy, neoplastic disease, electronic implants, active tuberculosis of lungs, insulin-dependent diabetes, thyrotoxicosis, bleeding from alimentary tract, states after organ trans-plants, serious viral, bacterial and myframe bedic infections.

2.3.4. Side effects that might occur due to magnetotherapy

The only side effects occurring dur-ing therapy with variable magnetic field issubjective tingling, numbing and warmth

sensation in the area exposed to the field, sometimes accompanied by general ir-ritability and sleep disorders, lack of con-centration felt by some patients usually only within first few days of therapy. Theseeffects usually occur in a small group of patients, are of transient nature and usually occur in people with unstable vegetative system. The effects can usually be pre-vented by starting the treatment with low field induction values and short time of ex-posure, and then gradually increasing both parameters to therapeutic values over the next few days of treatment.

3 THERAPY SELECTION

Viofor JPS Clinic/Delux apparatus is a unique and original design that provides the user with the selection of one of three options of variable magnetic field therapy: 1. magnetostimulation in JPS System2. magnetostimulation in JPS System

paired with light energy3. magnetotherapy*.In order to establish the application parameters and therapy options for a given patient, the following factors should be considered:- age- general health- course of the main illness- co-existing illnesses- pharmaceuticals administered- the number of treatments

and their duration - duration of magnetostimulation- other types of physical therapy.

3.1 Magnetostimulation

1. Therapy should be conducted upon a diagnosis and doctor’s consultation.

2. Magnetostimulation, like other forms of physical therapy, usually does not bring im-mediate effects. They depend on the nature of the illness, its length and coexisting ill-nesses. The individual reaction to this type of treatment is also important.

3. Magnetostimulation is most of all an ad-dition to primary treatment. Changes in treatment (particularly pharmacological) may be introduced only after consultation with a doctor.

4. Introduction of a program according to set D1 or D2 (see point.12) several days prior to therapy enables to determine individual reaction to magnetic field therapy.

5. When lying down on a large applicator – mat, the head should always be posi-tioned near the cable outlet.

6. Due to the possibility of sleep disorders occurrences, particularly in older people, treatments should be avoided late in the evening. It particularly concerns treat-ments of the head and neck area with the use of the pad, elliptic and point applicator as well as ring applicators.

7. Magnetostimulation with the use of the large applicator (frame bed, mat, short mat) can be applied in intervals of mini-mum six hours, two or three times within 24 hours.

8. In case of long-term therapy in chronic illnesses, a week interval is recommended after several weeks of application.

9. During therapy it is not possible to inter-fere with the application’s parameters – all keys, apart from START/STOP and SOUND, are inactive at this time.

Page 13: Viofor JPS System Clinic / Delux - User manual (En)

Application of Viofor JPS System Clinic/Delux

11

10. Possible subjective side effects are usually of temporary character.

11. Usage of an adapter enables to use two applicators at the same time without pos-sibility of applying different application parameters. Below-listed applicator com-binations, when used simultaneously on a patient, intensify the effect of variable magnetic field, and, therefore, acceleratethe therapeutic effect. Two elliptic applica-

tors of the same color cannot be used on one patient in respect to the same body part. It is, however, possible to use any two applicators on two patients. Other combinations require consultations with the distributor. The proper position of the applicators is described in paragraph 11 – apparatus usage, magnetostimulation.

12. Prophylaxis – according to default pa-rameters set by the manufacturer.

3.1.1.2 Application modes (M)1. M1 – application with a constant intensity;

the selected field intensity is constantthroughout the whole time of application; recommended in persons of good health condition

2. M2 – application with increasing intensity; the degree of field intensity increasesevery 10 or 12 seconds from 0,5 to the se-lected intensity, cyclically during the time of application; recommended in persons of lowered health condition

3. M3 – application with an increasing-de-creasing intensity; the degree of field in-tensity increases in 2 min from 0,5 to the selected value, during the next 8 min re-mains at the selected level, during the last 2 min decreases to a level of 0,5 – applies to the large and small applicator; apply from an intensity of 3 or higher.

3.1.1.3 Magnetic field intensity ( I )Intensity from 0,5 to 12 corresponds with

proportional values of magnetic field emittedby the applicators. It is recommended to start therapy from magnetic field intensity set at1 and successively set to higher levels. The speed of setting to higher levels depends on the age and general health of the user. For persons of high sensitivity to magnetic fieldsit is recommended to start application from a level of 0,5. For older people and children, changes may be introduced every 5-7 days, for others every 1-2 days.Proposed magnetic field intensity for adults:- level 0,5 to 12, depending on age and indi-

vidual sensitivity to magnetic fields.Proposed intensity for children: - 0-2 years level 0,5-1- 2-5 years level 1-2- 5-11 years level 1-4- 11-15 years level 1-6

3.1.1.4 Selection of application parameters

Application parameters are selected through a combination of: program (P), mode (M) and intensity (I):

or

Page 15: Viofor JPS System Clinic / Delux - User manual (En)

Application of Viofor JPS System Clinic/Delux

13

1. P1 + M1 – application with constant intensity (8 min)

2. P1 + M2 – application with increasing intensity (12 min)

3. P1 + M3 – application with increasing- -decreasing intensity (12 min)

4. P2 + M1 and P3 + M1 – JPS system with constant intensity (10 min)

5. P2 + M2 and P3 + M2 – JPS system with increasing intensity (12 min)

6. P2 + M3 and P3 + M3 – JPS system with increasing-decreasing intensity (12 min).The recommended modes of application

are based on the wide clinical experience of a team of practicing physicians as well as multicenter research that evaluate the effectiveness of magnetostimulation with the Viofor JPS Clinic/Delux apparatus.

Each of the 9 types of application can be combined with chosen field intensityaccording to the above-mentioned instructions.

In order to establish the application param-eters for a given patient, the following factors should be considered:- age- general fitness- course of the main illness- co-existing illnesses- pharmaceuticals administered- time of the day, when therapy will be

carried out- duration of magnetostimulation- other types of physical therapy.

3.1.2 The use of two or more applicatorsAccessories (adapter, additional applica-

tors) enable the optional use of several ap-plicators simultaneously with one or more persons. Thanks to this one may among other things increase the efficiency of treatments or take advantage of the appliance more eco-nomically. For example:- a patient with rheumatoid arthritis and

large degenerative lesions of the hip-joints – simultaneous application of the mat on the whole body and pad in the vicinity of the hip-joints

- the simultaneous application of several large applicators on several athletes e.g. after training. The two-coloured marking of the appli-

cators serves to define the direction of themagnetic field poles generated by the ap-plicator. With the same direction of impulses generated by the control unit, each applica-tor placed e.g. with the light side upwards will have this same direction of magnetic pole. This is essential in the simultaneous application of two applicators on the same person.

CAUTION!Do not apply applicators with sides of the same colour turned towards each other.

The arrangement of the whole body or its parts between two applicators generating inhomogeneous fields allows one to achievefields approximate to homogeneous.

One may apply two or three large applica-tors simultaneously (connected with one or two adapters) as well as various combinations of applicators (e.g. large and point, large and small, small and point). Point applicators are adapted to work with a large or small applica-tor with the light end turned upwards. In the event of using the application with two or three people simultaneously, the therapy parame-ters for all persons are identical. It is not possi-ble to separately set field parameters for eachof the simultaneously applied applicators.

3.2 Magnetostimulation with light energy

CAUTION!Strong red and/or infrared radiation!Protect your eyes!Do not look at the light!

1. Magnetostimulation paired with light energy is used locally during the series of repeated treatments with the use of one of three magnetic-light applicators.

2. Each applicator generates a heteroge-neous variable magnetic field in the JPS system. The light area of 48 diodes is lo-cated in within the coil and equals 19,6 cm2.

3. Light energy penetrating the tissue de-pends on the radiation properties (wave-lengths, angle of incidence), and on tissue properties (rate of hydration, perfusion, pigment content).

4. Tissue penetration will be the highest in case of infrared magnetic-light applicator (47 IR diodes, wavelength 855±5 nm, 1 R diode, wavelength 630±5 nm ), intermediate in case of combined magnetic-light applicator (24 IR diodes, wavelength 855±5 nm, 24 R diodes, wavelength 630±5 nm), and the lowest in case of red magnetic-light applicator (48 R diodes, wavelength 630±5 nm).

5. Energy power of each light type will increase to intensities set on the controller between 0.5 – 4. It will be identical within intensity range of 4 – 12.

6. Treatment with magnetic-light applicators should be started from low induction values of variable magnetic field, due to the expected synergy of magnetostimula-tion and light energy.

7. If the magnetostimulation has started with the use of elliptic applicator, then it is recommended to lower down the induction of magnetic-light applicator by 50% as compared to the previous one in re-spect to the same body area.

8. Due to the applicator contact with the skin, it is recommended to wash and dry the skin area to be exposed.

9. When using magnetic-light applicators, never direct the light in the eye area!

3.2.1 Application parameter components

3.2.1.1 Programs ( P )For use of magnetic-light applicators all

three programs are recommended P1, P2 i P3. Parameters of energy of the light are contained in the part C (Technical Data), table 10.5

3.2.1.2 Application modes ( M )Viofor JPS Clinic/Delux apparatus ena-

bles three different application modes (M) for variable magnetic field described in para-graph 3.1.1.2.

When using magnetic-light applicators, M1 mode is recommended. It is the applica-tion with constant intensity, where selected intensity of variable magnetic field does not change during the application.

3.2.1.3 Magnetic field intensity ( I )Intensity from 0,5 to 12 corresponds with

proportionate values of variable magnetic field emitted by elliptic applicators. The high-est mean impulse value of variable heteroge-neous magnetic field (in microteslas) on the surface of magnetic-light applicators is 8.9 x 1 at P2M1 (intensity level selected on the Viofor JPS Clinic/Delux controller).

It is recommended to start the therapy from the lowest intensity and increase it gradually.

3.2.1.4 Selection of application parametersApplication parameters are selected

through a combination of one of three pro-grams (P1, P2 or P3), application mode M1 (recommended) and magnetic field intensity (I)

Treatment duration: - for P1: 8 minutes x time multiplier in the

controller (1, 2 or 3), i.e. 8, 16 or 24 min-utes respectively

- for P2 and P3 : 10 m x minutes x time mul-tiplier in the controller (1, 2 or 3), i.e. 10, 20 or 30 minutes respectivelyWhen the induction in Viofor JPS Clinic/

Delux controller increases from 0.5 to 4, light energy density increases as well, whereas above these values, i.e. from 4 to 12, only variable magnetic field induction will increase. Due to the expected synergy of both types of radiation, the therapy should be started from low induction values of variable magnetic field, and, therefore, from low light energy density level.

Selection of one of three magnetic-light applicators should depend on the type of light required for a given form of therapy.

1. Red magnetic-light applicator R (wave-length 630±5 nm) is used mainly for skin disease treatment, such as unhealing wounds and ulcerations (including bed-sores), common acne and zoster. It is rec-ommended in dermatology and cosmetic surgery

2. Infrared magnetic-light applicator IR (wavelength 855±5 nm)in motor system diseases (arthrosis; pain syndromes in discopathy; syndromes due to strain of muscles and periarticular soft tissue; inflammation of tendons, fascia, tendon sheaths and joint bursa; periarticular in-flammation; bone fractures and delayed union of fractured bones) as well as in neurological diseases (neuralgia of pe-ripheral nerves – intercostal neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, post-zoster neuralgia, sciatica; diabetic neuropathy).

3. Combined magnetic-light applicator R+IR (wavelength 630±5 nm / 855±5 nm) in chronic skin inflammations; keloid, psoriasis, psoriatic joint inflammation, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid in-flammation of the joints, post-thrombotic syndrome.Energy doses as well as type of light and

the number of treatments should be selected individually; their parameters should be similar to those used in laser biostimulation, depending on experience and preferences of the therapist.

3.3 Magnetotherapy*

1. Magnetotherapy is applied locally during the series of repeated treatments.

2. Viofor JPS Clinic apparatus is equipped with a flat, binary applicator generating variable heterogeneous magnetic field.

3. When a given body part is placed between two elements of the flat applicator, the generated magnetic field is close the ho-mogenous one.

4. 1 m connection between two elements of the flat applicator enables simultaneous exposure of two body parts.

16

Application of Viofor JPS System Clinic/Delux

16

5. It is forbidden to use two elements of the applicator with the same color sides facing each other, except for therapy of different parts of the body separately with each part of applicator.

6. After the first few treatments, side effects of transient nature might occur (see 2.3.4)

7. Due to possible sleep disorders, especially in older patients, treatment in the evening or at nights is not recommended.

3.3.1 Application parameter components

3.3.1.1 Magnetic field intensity Intensity from 0,5 to 12 corresponds to

proportionate values of variable magnetic field emitted by a flat applicator. It is 6 x I for each applicator element, when used separately or 10 x I when they are used one on top of another. It is recommended to start treatment from low intensity and increase it gradually.

3.3.1.2 Magnetic field frequency Viofor JPS Clinic apparatus enables se-

lection of variable magnetic field frequency

from 5 to 40 Hz, regulated incrementally every 5 Hz.

3.3.1.3 Shape of magnetic signals (S) Signals of variable magnetic field gener-

ated by Viofor JPS Clinic apparatus can be sinusoidal, triangular or rectangular in shape.

3.3.1.4 Treatment duration Viofor JPS Clinic apparatus is equipped

with incremental time set from 10 to 30 mi-nutes, every 5 minutes.

3.3.1.5 Selection of application parameters Application parameters are selected

by setting combination of: frequency, signal shape (S), intensity of magnetic field and treatment duration on Viofor JPS Clinic con-troller. The therapist can select application parameters and the number of treatments individually, depending on own experience and preferences as well as latest findings in magnetotherapy.

To display the counters go to the main win-dow (see drawing 3) and press simultaneous-ly keys ON (3) and ESCAPE (4). In top left corner of the display the counters will appear, for example (on Viofor JPS Clinic display):

MS 12MT 2,

which means, that until that moment, 12 magnetostimulation application and 2 magnetotherapy application has been per-formed. In case of Viofor JPS Delux only one reading will display on the screen, e.g.:

MS 12

The application is counted if it lasts longer that 30 sec. After moving to the next win-dow and returning to the main window, the counters are not visible any more. If user wants to display them again it is neccessary to repeat the procedure.

Place the controller on a stable surface (e.g. table) and connect selected applicators. Plug the cable in.

A large applicator – mat should be placed on flat and hard surface. It is rec-ommended that applicators be located not closer than 50 cm from large metal objects (e.g. radiators).

In order to get the best results, the place for therapy should be located in the area of lowest possible external electromagnetic fields.

Set the desired application parameters and press START/STOP button.

11.1.5 Point applicator (S and Z )For local application. Generates het-erogeneous variable magnetic fieldof point-like characteristics. Used in stomatology, on selected acu-puncture points and in cases when

a narrow beam of variable magnetic fieldof significant induction is required. Can beused together with two-color applicator fac-ing light side up. Installation: plug the applicator into any controller socket. Point the plastic applicator end to the place exposed to treatment. Set the desired application parameters and press START/STOP button.

11.1.6 Elliptic applicator (light and green)For local application, fastened with

the belt on limbs or with the tape in other places of application. Generates heteroge-neous variable magnetic field, whose areaof activity is within approx. 6 cm circle. Used mostly for treatment of small and medium joints, in stomatology and laryngology. Light and green applicators, when used separate-ly, work identically. If two elliptic applicators are used on the same spot, e.g. wrist in the same patient, they only applicators of differ-ent color can be connected.

Installation: plug the applicator into any controller socket. Place the applicator on the treated area, fasten with the strap, with an adhesive tape or hold it in one position. Set the desired application parameters and press START/STOP button.

11.1.7 Ring applicator – small, 30 cm diameterFor local application on limbs.

Generates homogenous variable magnetic field of line of force parallel to the coil axis, therefore parallel to patient’s body, which in-creases application effectiveness. Equipped with two cable sockets, marked H and L. When applicator is connected to socket H, the induction of magnetic field generated bythe applicator is three times stronger than in socket L.Installation: select therapy strength: H or L and plug in the cable in the selected applicator socket, in accordance with symbols on the cable. Plug the other end to any controller socket. Place the limb inside the applicator (applicator should

be place exactly above the treated area) on a flat base. Set the desired parametersand press START/STOP button.

11.1.8 Ring applicator – large, 65 cm diameterUsed together with the large applica-

tor – frame bed. Equipped with rolls that can be moved in the frame bed guides. In the area of application, generates homogenous variable magnetic field, of line of force parallelto the coil axis, therefore parallel to patient’s body, which increases application effective-ness. Used as local applicator for selected body parts.Installation: plug properly (see assembly instruction) ring applicator installed on the guide rails of the frame-bed applicator to any controller socket. Lie down on the applicator and set the ring applicator. Set the desired application parameters and press START/STOP button. If frame-bed applicator and large ring applicators have to be used simultaneously, they should be connected through an adapter.

11.2 Magnetic-light applicators

Three magnetic-light applicators for local use (red R, infrared IR and combined red/infra-red R+IR. Generate heterogeneous variable magnetic field of physical parameters of mag-netostimulation in JPS System, whose area of activity is within approx. 6 cm circle. Inside the applicator coil there are: a) red applicator R - 48 red LED diodes,

color of signal diode

b) infrared applicator IR - 47 infrared LED diodes, 1 red LED diode,

c) combined applicator R+IR - 24 infrared and 24 red LED diodesLight area of magnetic-light applicators

is 19,6 cm2. The applicator casing contains a coil for magnetic field therapy and LED diodes set for light therapy. LED diode termi-nals touch polycarbonate plate 0,75 mm thick. On the top of the casing there is a triangular warning label, signal diode in color depending on the applicator type (see table on the previ-ous page) and company logo.

On the bottom there is a transparent glass, through which the light is emitted.

Plate is placed directly on patient’s body. Applicators are fastened with the belt on limbs and with tape on other parts of the body. Syn-ergy of both types of electromagnetic radia-tion is expected.

Each applicator is equipped with a cable with a 6-pin plug. On the cable there are:- applicator serial number (from the plug’s

side),- applicator type identifier (from the casing

side – R, IR, RIR)

11.2.1 Red magnetic-light applicator R(wavelength 630±5 nm; shallow ac-

tion) is used mainly for skin disease treat-ment, such as unhealing wounds and ulcera-tions (including bedsores), common acne and zoster. It is recommended in dermatology and cosmetic surgery.

11.2.2 Infrared magnetic-light applicator IR(wavelength 855±5 nm; deep action)

in motor system diseases (arthrosis; pain syn-dromes in discopathy; syndromes due to strain of muscles and periarticular soft tissue; inflam-mation of tendons, fascia, tendon sheaths and joint bursa; periarticular inflammation; bone fractures and delayed union of fractured bones) as well as in neurological diseases (neuralgia of peripheral nerves – intercostal neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, post-zoster neuralgia, sciatica; diabetic neuropathy).

11.2.3 Combined magnetic-light applicator RIR(wavelength 630/855±5 nm; medium

action) in chronic skin inflammations; keloid, psoriasis, psoriatic joint inflammation, anky-losing spondylitis, rheumatoid inflammation of the joints, post-thrombotic syndrome.

11.3 Applicator for magnetotherapy

Flat applicator used for magnetotherapy of selected body areas. Consists of two identi-cal, connected two-color elements. Each generates heterogeneous variable magnetic field. Two-color coding is used to identify the direction of magnetic field poles generated by each one. In case of the same impulse di-rection, each element of the applicator when, for example, facing light side up, will have the same magnetic field pole direction. It should be remembered when using both ele-ments place one on top of another, or at both sides of the body part, so that the stronger local effect can be obtained. Connection of elements enables simultaneous therapy of two body parts, which are within the applica-tor range. When a given body part is placed between two elements of the flat applicator, the generated magnetic field is close the homogenous one.
