valli wines gibbston valley, central otago
Valli is the creation of pioneering Otago winemaker Grant Taylor.
It is named after his great-great grandfather Giuseppe Valli
(from an Italian winemaking background) who emigrated to
New Zealand in the 1870s.
Grant Taylor is New Zealands most awarded Pinot Noir
winemaker, earning a string of gold medal and trophy accolades
throughout his long career. However, none surpasses winning
the trophy for Best Pinot Noir at the worlds largest wine
competition, the London International Wine Challenge, twice,
a feat achieved by no other winemaker in the world. Grant
established Valli in 1998 with the purchase of 6.5 ha of land in
Gibbston and the philosophy of producing single vineyard wines
showing Otagos different sub regional characters. The aim was
and still is, is to educate and share what has been learnt about
this exciting new wine region.
The emphasis is very much on vineyard expression with all the
effort and energy going into producing the best wine possible
from each site, quality rather than quantity, consequently
total production is less than 2000 cases.
When you drink a Valli wine you are enjoying more than a
wine, you are also enjoying a place. - Grant Taylor

domain road winesbannockburn
We believe that our single vineyard site is the strongest
element that contributes to the distinctiveness of our wines.
Dedicated, detailed, hands-on care of the vines over each
season and through the years allow the harvest of outstanding
grapes. The winemakers role is to reflect the distinct character
of the fruit from the vineyard, through traditional,
low intervention practices in the winery.
Domain Roads vines are cared for by Robin Dicey, one of New
Zealands most experienced viticulturists. The wines are made
by Carol Bunn, known here as the Queen of Pinot Noir. Domain
Road has picked up several gold medals for its wines including
gold at the Royal Easter Show Wine Awards and at the NZ
International Wine Show for the 2007 Pinot Noir.
Domain Road Pinot Noir displays fresh vibrant tannins that
have real energy. Domain Road is owned by the Crosbie family
who have enjoyed holidaying at Bannockburn for many years
and have had family connections with the area over several
generations. Intensely pure, very beautiful Pinot Noir
