The DBR Chamber YPN or Young Professionals Network will be held on Tues-day, March 21, 2017 at Dao Sushi in downtown Deerfield. The group founded by members Justin Fowler, Merrill Lynch; Jordan Rosenberg, Beermann Law; and Steve Lombardo, Kessler Orlean and Silver is a platform for young professionals in our community to expand and develop their business networks.

Villages Approve 1% Prepared Food and Beverage TaxThis February, Deerfield restaurants, hotels and grocery stores that sell food and bever-ages for immediate consumption need to register with the Village for the tax that takes ef-fect March 1, 2017. The Village and Chamber met with local businesses to hear feedback and provide information on implementation, before the Village Board voted on the tax.

The tax was approved by the Village Board on January 3, 2017 and will take affect March 1, 2017. Information, tax calculation worksheet and registration forms have been mailed by the Village to over 65 Deerfield businesses and are available from the DBR Chamber and the Village. Tax payments are made directly to the Village of Deerfield, not to the Il-linois Department of Revenue. Questions should be directed to Village Finance Director Eric Burk at 847-945-5000 or eburk@deerfield.il.us.

In addition to Deerfield, the Village of Bannockburn approved an ordinance establishing and imposing a Home Rule Food and Alcoholic Beverage Tax (“F&BT”). The Ordinance provides for a 1% tax on Food (including non-alcoholic beverages) and Alcoholic Bever-ages. The tax collection begins on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Questions should be directed to the Village of Bannockburn at 847-945-6080.

Responsibilities include procurement of new members through solicita-tion of new and existing businesses. Retention of existing members. Assist and implementation of events as well as fundraising.
