1 Village Parasa Khand Story Wood cutters showed the way Parahiyas, one of the primitive tribal groups are the residents of Parasakhand. About Parahiya, it is written in Palamau gazetteer that they are most idle community and fundamentally they are thieves. One feels sweet to see the achievement of Ram Naresh Parahiya, Vinod Parahiya, Vinay Parahiya and their group of 10 members. Earlier, the only joy and source of income of the community was to uproot tuber from forest and cut wood to sell as fuel in Daltonganj to get Rs 20 to 30 per day. A Micro-lift was installed in year 2008 in Parasakhand to ensure irrigation. Microlift irrigation system Visit during division level workshop and result Exposure trip was organized to enrich Parahiyas in some agriculturally developed areas. Training and Capacity building programmes were organized to make them aware about the productive power of mother Earth.

First time in their life, they tested the sweetness of sugarcane when they
cultivated in their field. It was learning for the members of rest of the society to
see Parahiyas Cultivating Sugarcane.
Now the wood cutter is become a professional vegetable cultivator.
When we ask to Vinay Parahiya about wood cutting, he answers simply “ab Ka
Jarurat Ba”.
Some Special Features of the story
Deputy Development Commissioner Palamau visited to see the fruit of Prototype
programme in the land of socially and economically backward tribes. He desired to
replicate the some system of irrigation and agriculture development with social
cohesiveness. His idea is to spread the model taking financial help from some other
governmental Scheme.

The women’s group of these villages form a fedretion namely Nari Shakti Sangh. In
the fedretion they are talking about other issues like education, health,
immunization, sanitation, other development programme etc.

The women of these villages organize flag hosting in the village on every 15th August
and 26th January. At this time women from adjoining village also participate in the
programme. This shows the women empowerment in true sense.
