Ganley and 17 other artists were announced as winners of $5,000 in prizes presented by Village at Leesburg in the adult division at a preview reception on August 13 at the Artful August Show exhibit, located in Suite 100 at 1603 Village Market Boulevard SE, Leesburg. The Jury reviewed 227 adult division entries from artists in Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia to select art for display and selected student artists for display and awards in the show’s high school division. Ganley, who received the $1,000 Best of Show Award for her oil painting, “Fixin’ To Go Fishin,also won a $200 Honorable Mention Award for her watercolor, “The Rockport Crowd.” The other top winner in the prestigious first year show also won two awards. Leesburg, VA (August 14, 2013) — Betty Ganley of Great Falls, VA won the Best of Show

Award at the Artful August Juried Art Show, which opens to the public today at Village at

Leesburg. Ganley and 17 other artists were announced as winners of $5,000 in prizes presented

by Village at Leesburg in the adult division at a preview reception on August 13 at the Artful

August Show exhibit, located in Suite 100 at 1603 Village Market Boulevard SE, Leesburg.

The Jury reviewed 227 adult division entries from artists in Virginia, Maryland and West

high school division. Ganley, who received the $1,000 Best of Show Award for her oil painting,

The Jury selected three student artists from Virginia as winners in the Artful August High School

Division. Each student will receive a $500 scholarship with a matching $500 donation to each of

their school art departments. The high school division winners are:

Amanda Booth, Heritage High School, Leesburg

Kylie Carroll, Briar Woods High School, Ashburn

Alexandra Wegley, Stonewall Jackson High School, Manassas

The Jury for the Artful August Show included F. Lennox Campello, art critic, author, curator,

artist and co-founder of the Fraser Gallery of Washington, DC and Bethesda, MD; Jack Devine,

principal at the art consulting firm Artists Circle, and president of the Montgomery County

Historical Society; and Claudia Rousseau Ph.D., Professor of Art History at the School of Art

and Design at Montgomery College and art critic for the Gazette Newspapers in Montgomery,

Prince Georges and Frederick Counties.

The public is invited to view the impressive Jury selected artwork at the Artful August Show

August 14 – 18, from 12 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday through Saturday, and from 12 - 5 p.m. on

Sunday. The Artful August show admission is free and guests have the opportunity to purchase

Jury selected adult division artwork, with 70% paid to the artist and 30% of sales donated to the

Loudoun Arts Council. The show features an exhibit from Arts in the Village Gallery, located at

Village at Leesburg. During the Artful August show, visitors can walk to the nearby Arts in the

Village Gallery for free wine tastings and artist demonstrations. Visit
