Villa dei Balbianello is situated in the comune Leno province Como Italy on a small wooded peninsula on south-west of Lake Como. The villa was built in 1787 by Cardinal Angelo Maria Durin.In 1796 Giuseppe Arconati Visconti bought the villa and made improvements in the garden and loggia.In the twentieth century an American military officer Butler Ames purchased the villa and renovated all .In 1974 the villa was bought by explorer Guido Monzino

In 1988 when Monzino died left the villa to the National Trust of Italia

The Villa is open for visitors
