About the College
Kerala University College of Teacher Education, Kayamkulam is an Educational Institution
directly run by the University of Kerala for imparting B. Ed. course in five disciplines. Since
its inception in 1997, the College has achieved considerable heights in academic excellence
and extra-curricular perfection. Students from all parts of Kerala are studying in this
College, creating an atmosphere of a miniature Kerala in the heart of the historic
Kayamkulam town. The faculties with talents in their individual areas of expertise are
committed to furthering the education of our outstanding students. There are supportive
staff, state-of the-art facilities and strong relations maintained with local schools and
community agencies. The main goal is to carve out good teachers and to equip them with
the right combination of knowledge, skills and understanding to be an excellent teacher in
any school setting.

School Internship Phase-I
School Internship Phase-I of the academic year was from on 20 th June 2016 to 26th August
2016. It gave practical experience to trainees about different problems related to school and
classrooms, they get exposed to the students’ problems, they learned how to apply
philosophical, psychological and management principles while teaching, etc.
New academic year (2016-18)
The Inaugural function of two year B.Edprogrammefor the academic year 2016-2018 was
held on 13th July 2016.Dr.Smitha J.M, Assistant Professor, KUCTE welcomed the gathering.
Sri. N. Shivadasan, Municipal Chairman, Kayamkulam Municipality inaugurated the function.
Dr.G.NSunith Kumar, Principal, KUCTE, Kayamkulam presided the function.
Sri.Salahudeen.A, Vice president, CDC (2015-17) Sri.Muralidas.J, Academic coordinator, Smt.
Hemalatha.T, Smt.Chitra.I,Smt.Anupama.V.S, Smt.Sabeena.S, Assistant Professors, KUCTE
and Mr.NidhinRatheesh, Union Chairman (2015-17) delivered felicitation for the function.
Smt.RaniRajan, Assistant Professor, KUCTE delivered vote of thanks. All the new admitted
student teachers and their parents were present in the function. After the formal
inauguration new executive members for college Development Committee of 2016-2018
academic year was selected.
Self-reflection
A self – reflection gathering was arranged during one of the initial days to familiarize each
other.
Orientation Programme
Anorientation programme regarding two year restructured B.Ed curriculum was conducted
in the campus from 14th July 2016 to 18th July 2016.
Morning Assembly
Every day academic activities begin with the prayer. Morning assembly conducted during
every Tuesday & Thursdays in which all students and teachers take part. The assemblies
were conducted House-wise and a topic of current interest presented to improve the
communication skills and to be in tune with the current affairs.
Birthday Celebration
Birthday of the students and staff of the institution was celebrated in the campus. A birthday
card was presented to the star of the day as a token of love by the staff and students of the
institution.
Important Day Celebration
Important national and international days were celebrated in the campus. Kargil day, World
Nature Conservation Day, Hindi Day, Democracy Day, World Food Dayetc. were celebrated
in the campus.
College Election
College election for the academic year 2016-2018 was held on 05th August 2016. Dr.Smitha
J.M.,Staff Advisor & Assistant Professor in Perspectives in Education was the presiding officer
of the programme. Dr.Sunith Kumar G.N., Principal, KUCTE, Kayamkulam acted as jury of
appeal. The elected members are Chairman(Sebastian K.C.), Sikha Ramesh (Vice Chairman),
UnnimayaD.Das(General Secretary),Fousiya A. (Joint Secretary), Jasmine A.(Arts Club
Secretary), Devika S. (Sports Club Secretary), FemithaShahul(Literary Club) and Aneesa N.
(Magazine Editor)
Swearing Ceremony
On 8th August 2016 oath taking ceremony of the college union was held in the college
campus. Dr.Sunith Kumar,Principal,KUCTE,Kayamkulam recited the oath to the chairman of
the union. The Chairman, college union recited the oath to other members of the union.
Fresher’s Day Celebration
The fresher’s day was conducted on 10th August 2017 in our College auditorium. The second
year students arranged a party and entertainment programmes for the first year students.
Beautification of the Premises
As a part of Clean Kerala Initiative, a cleaning programme was conducted in the college
campus on 10th August 2016. All the students as well as teachers participated in the cleaning
programme with enthusiasm. The classrooms and the entire campus were cleaned as
various groups. Steamed tapioca and chillichudney prepared by the students were served to
all. As part of beautification of the campus, optional vise gardens were also arranged.
Inauguration of College Union, Merit Day, Arts, Sports and Literary Clubs
On 12th August 2016, the college union, arts, sports and literary clubs were inaugurated in
the college campus. The college union was inaugurated by Adv.PrathibhaHari, MLA
kayamkulam, Arts club was inaugurated by Shri.JyothikumarPunnapra, a famous
NadanPattukaran (Folk Singer). Sports club was inaugurated by Dr.Ansari M., Assistant
professor;Literary club wasinaugurated by Dr.DominiePazhampasseril,the National Service
Scheme award winner of Kerala University. All the staff and students of the college actively
participated in the function.
Art’s Club Activities
The students were divided into three houses namely – Ragam,Thananm&Pallavi. Varieties
of competitive programmes were conducted for the student teachers in the house-vise
manner to explore their potentialities. The teacher who was in charge of the Arts was
Shri.Madhu,(Assistant Professor in Performing and Visual Arts).
Alumni Association
KUCTE, Kayamkulam had organized a Former students association ‘Nostalgia-2016’ on 13 th
August 2016. The function was inaugurated by
Adv.K.H.Babujan,MemberSyndicate,University of Kerala. Students who studied in the
institution from 1997 to 2016 attended the function and shared their wonderful
experiences at the college.
Independence Day celebration
The Independence Day celebration was celebrated on 15th August 2016 with flag hoisting
ceremony by Ward Councilor, Kayamkulam Municipality. The welcome speech was
delivered by Devika, Sports Club Secretary and presidential address was delivered by
Dr.Sunith KumarG.N. (Principal).Independence Day message was given by Shri.
Shanavas,.Assistant Professor in Physical Education.
Inauguration of the Organic Garden, named ‘HARISREE’ and Nature Club
As part of observing International year of pulses (2016), the Kerala university college of
Teacher Education in association with Kerala State Council for Science Technology and
Environment organized a programme on ‘Setting up of an organic vegetable garden in the
College Campus’. The official inauguration of the organic garden, named ‘HARISREE’ and
nature club was held on 17thAugust 2016 at 2.30pm on College Auditorium. The honourable
principal, Dr. Sunith Kumar chaired the function. The meeting started with the invocation of
god almighty of the College choir. It was followed by the welcome address of Mrs. T.
Hemalatha, the programme co-ordinator, International year of pulses. She briefed out the
activities already conducted by nature club to make use of all opportunities given to them
during club activities and also she welcomed everybody to the function. The Principal
delivered a brief presidential speech after that Dr. C. INDIRADEVI,Rtd. Head of the
Department of physics, TKM College, Nangiarkulangara delivered the Inaugural Speech.
Capacity Building Activity
As part of the revised B.Ed. curriculum various activities were performed by the students.
These activities intended to develop their creativity, communication skill, self-confidence,
leadership skills, problem solving ability, presentation skills etc.
Community Services – Visit to Gandhi Bhavan
As a part of community service, students in the campus collected clothes from their
classmates, teachers and non-teaching staff and donated to Gandhi Bhavan inmates. A group
of students along with Principal and other teachers visited the institution on 19th August
2016 and studied the dark side of human life. The aim of this initiative was to inculcate the
values of social responsibility and service mentality in the minds of student trainees.
Study tour
Study tour for the academic year was conducted on 23thAugust 2016. The places visited
were museum, zoo and planetarium. Students were given responsibilities for conducting the
tour.Various committees executed their duties.It was very informative and recreative.
Visit to Krishnapuram Palace
A field visit was conducted to Krishnapuram palace on 25 thAugust 2016. The Krishnapuram
Palace is a rare specimen of the Kerala style of architecture, complete with gabled roofs,
narrow corridors and dormer windows. Renovated sometime in the 18 thcentury, the palace
is today a protected monument under the Archaeology Department. Recently it has been
again renovated according to the scientific techniques prescribed for the protection of
heritage buildings.Today the palace is an archaeological museum, and the most fascinating
exhibit here is the 49 sq.m - GajendraMoksham - the largest single band of mural painting so
far discovered in Kerala. Literally, the salvation (Moksha) of the elephant king (Gajendra),
the theme of the mural is mythological and depicts an elephant saluting Lord Vishnu in
devotion while the other gods, goddesses and saints look on.
Workshop on Research
A one day workshop on “Making Sense of Research’ was organized on 27 th August 2016 in
the campus.The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. K. Krishna Das, Member,
Syndicate&Associate Professor, SreeSankara College, Kalady. Dr.Smitha.J.M. Asst. Prof.
&Programme Coordinator delivered the welcome speech. Dr. SunithKumar ,Principal,
KUCTE delivered the presidential address. Shri.Muralidas J, Academic Cordinatordeliverd
felicitation speech.Smt. Neetilal delivered vote of thanks for the function. Thematic session
was handled by Dr. BinduR.L., Associate Professor, Department of Education ,University of
Kerala.
Charity Club
As a part of social service activities a charity club with the name ‘Daya’ was formed by the
staff and students of KUCTE. The inauguration of the club was on 30 th August
2016.Sri.PunaloorSomarajan inaugurated the function. Cine artist Shri.T.P. Madhavan was
the special guest of the day. Dr. Sunith Kumar, Principal,KUCTE welcomed the gathering.Ms.
Shikha Ramesh, student secretary of the club presided the function.Smt. Rani Rajan
delivered the vote of thanks.
Onam celebration
Onam was celebrated in the campus on 1st September 2016. The function was celebrated by
Shri. Muralidas, Academic Coordinator. Dr.Sunith Kumar G.N, Principal presided the
function.Flower carpet, Thiruvathirakaliand onam songs were performed by students of
various departments. Everyone enjoyed the grant feast. After Onasadyaonakkalikal and
other recreational games were also arranged.Uri Adi and musical chair games were also
conducted.
Residential Community Living Camp
As per the curriculum,a Five Day Residential Community Living Camp –‘Zenith -2016’ was
organised in the campus for the second year students from 5th September 2016 to 9th
September 2016. The camp was inaugurated by Adv.K.H.Babujan, Member Syndicate,
University of Kerala. Various personalitieslikeAdv.N.Shivadasan, Chairperson, Kayamkulam
MuncipalitySmt.Sheeba Das, Counsellor, Kayamkulam Municipality, Sri. M. Abdulla, Vice-
President, CDC, Smt. Sherlikutty, Principal, GBHSS, Kayamkulam, Smt. J. Sudha,
Headmistress, GBHS, Kayamkulam and Muralidas, Academic Coordinator attended the
function. Smt. Rani Rajan., Assistant Professor delivered the vote of thanks. Various
academic as well as entertaining and sports activities were arranged on these days. Sessions
included seminars on topics like ‘Guidance and Counselling, Life Skills, Simple ways of
Excellence and other programmes like Wonder world of music, Kaviarangu, Agriculture,
Thalalayam, Fun in Art, Survey, visit to fire station…etc.
Observance of Ozone day
Ozone day was celebrated in the campus on 23rd September 2016.A seminar on
“Vulnerability to Climate Change-Restoration Regime for Ozone Depletion” was organized in
the college . The inaugural session started at 10 a.m. Inaugural address was given by
Shri.K.S.Gopakumar,Member syndicate,University of Kerala.Dr.G.NagendraPrabhu, Assistant
Professor, SDCollege, Alappuzha and Dr.Reena T.A., Assistant Professor of Chemistry, MSM
College, Kayamkulam handled the thematic sessions.
Literary Activities
As a part of Arts day 2017, Kerala University College of Teacher Education conducted a series of
literary competitions. The story writing competition in various languages was held on 6th October
2016. Students from all houses actively participated in the competition. Smt. Divyasree,
Assistant Professor (Arts Education) & Jasmin A, Arts Club Secretary co-ordinated the
programme. Poetry writing and essay writing competition in various languages were also
conducted on 13th and 23rd October 2016 respectively.
Mid Semester Exam
The mid semester examination for the first and second year students were conducted on 3 rd
October 2016 to 14thOctober 2016.The questions pattern was as per University guidelines.
Inauguration of renovated Building
Old building in the campus was renovated with the financial assistance from University of
Kerala.The function was inaugurated by Avt. K.H.Babujan,Syndicate Member,Kerala
University on 13th October 2016.Advt. N.Shivadasan, Muncipal Chairman,Kayamkulam
presided the function. Key note address was delivered by Smt. R. Girija,Vice chairperson,
Kayamkulam Muncipality. Dr. Sunith Kumar G.N., Principal, KUCTE welcomed the gathering.

Art & Glass Painting Workshop
As a part of B. Ed. curriculum a workshop on art and craft was conducted on 20 th October
2016. Smt. Divyasree G.P., Assistant Professor in Performing and Visual Artshandled the
sessions. Students were divided in to various groups. Items included were Glass painting,
Flower making, Jewellery& Greeting card making, Fabric painting etc.
International Year of Pulses and Food Security - Seminar
As part of International Year of Pulses and Food Security 2016, Kerala University College of
Teacher Education, Kayamkulam in association with Kerala State Council for Science,
Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) organized a seminar on “Importance of Pulses and
its Production”, on October 22, 2016 at college auditorium.The programme was inaugurated
by the Hon. Minister Shri. KadakampallySurendran.
Art’s Corner
As part of developing the creativity of the teacher trainees Arts corner was arranged in the
campus. A board with the name ‘Arts Corner’ was displayed in the entrance corridor of the
college. Students were divided in to four houses namely-Ragam,Thanam&Pallavi. Every
week each house was in charge of the Art’s Corner. Students were asked to fill the board
with articles, pictures and others details regarding twelve art forms
namelyMusic,Painting,Dance,Sculpture,Photography,Film,Drama,Architecture,MusicalInstru
ment,Cartoon,Literature etc.Overall performance was also given marks.The competition
started on November.
Yoga class
Yoga training was given to the trainees from 7nd November 2016 to 9th November 2016.
Sri.Shanavas S. (Assistant Professor in Physical Education) handled the sessions. Asanas
like Shalabhasanam, Bhujangasanam, Padmasanam, Shavasanam, vajrasanam,
suryanamaskaram and Pranayama were demonstrated and trained.
Exhibition of Teaching Aids
The second year students (2015-17) conducted an exhibition on 10th November 2016 in
which their innovative teaching aids were exhibited. All the departments-Social Science,
Natural Science, Hindi,Arabic and Physical Science actively participated in the venture.
Students of GGHS &GBHS, Kayamkulam were invited to see and understand the exhibits.
Open House
An open house for the students and parents was conducted on 11thNovemeber
2016.Majority of the parents visited the campus and discussed the academic progress of the
students with all the teaching staff and Principal.
Children’s Day Celebration
Children’s Day Celebration was celebrated on 14th November 2016 in the college with
varieties of programmes. The staff and students were active to take part in the celebration.
Workshop on SUPW
The students were given training regarding socially useful productive works on 15 th
November 2016. They were given training on carry bag making, embroidery work, paper
file making, flower making etc.All the students very actively participated in the workshop.
Christmas Day Celebration
Christmas day celebration of the academic year 2015 was celebrated on 23rdDecember
2016. Ms. Fousia, Joint Secretary, College union welcomed the gathering.Christmas message
was delivered by Rev.Fr.Sebastian, Dr. Sunith Kumar G.N., Principal presided the function.
Smt.Hemaletha and Smt.Anupama,Asst. Profs,KUCTEdelivered felicitation.Ms.Unni Maya,
General Secretary, College Union delivered vote of thanks for the function. The formal
function was followed by variety entertainments presented by students of the college.
SUPW Workshop
As part of the B.Ed. curriculum, a workshop was conducted in the campus on 6 th January 2017 in
which the whole students were divided in to five groups and training in flower making, paper &
cloth carry bag making, file making; embroidery and craft work using waste materials were
provided. Each student joined the group according to their interest. The programme was co-
ordinated by Smt. Rani Rajan, Asst. Prof. in Social Science.
School Induction Programme
A school induction programme was conducted from 09/01/2017 to 13.1.2017 as part of the B.Ed.
course. Seven schools were selected for the training programme. The schools participated
included G.B.H.S.S, Kayamkulam, Govt. G.H.S.S, Kayamkulam, M.S.M H.S.S, Kayamkulam,
V.V.H..S.S, Thamarakulam, N.S.S.H.S Pullukurangara, Govt.G.H.SS, Ramapuramand
Panchayath H.S.S. Pathiyoor. On 14th January, the student teachers presented reflection about the
programmes.
M.Ed. Internship Programme
M.Ed. students of various training colleges visited the institution for their internship programme
from 16.1.2017 to 30.1.2017 as the part of M.Ed. (two year) course under the University of
Kerala. Students from Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara and N.S.S Training College,
Pandalam visited the institution. Each student handled five general classes and five optional
classes. Students also participated in curricular and co-curricular activities. Teachers gave
feedback and suggestions for improving their teaching skills. A farewell function was conducted
on the last working day in which the M. Ed students gave their feedback about internship and
shared their experiences.
Banking Awareness Programme
A banking awareness programme which is an initiative programme of SEBI was conducted in
the campus on 18th January 2017. Shri.Satheesh, Trainer took a class on the topic “Financial
Education for School Children”. He started the programme by introducing himself and interacted
with the students. The functions of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Investment
schemes, Share marketing Insurance and mutual funds were discussed. Discussions on online
banking and procedures for making online transactions, information about new generation
banking system, mobile banking etc. were also explained. Mr. Sebastian proposed the vote of
thanks.
Republic day Celebration
The Republic day celebration was celebrated in the College on 26 th January 2017. Various
programmes were arranged in connection with it. The programme commenced at 8.30 am. The
National Flag was hoisted by Adv. N. Sivadasan (Municipal Chairman) at 8.30am. The welcome
speech was delivered by Smt. Anupama V. S., Asst. Prof. in Hindi. Felicitations were made by
Adv. N. Sivadasan (Municipal Chairman), Smt. Sheebadas (Municipal Chairperson), Dr. Sunith
Kumar G.N. (Principal) and Sri. Muralidas J. (Academic Coordinator). Immediately after the
inaugural ceremony a social awareness drama “Onnanu Nammal” was presented by the first year
students. This followed a rally flagged off by Smt. Sheebadas (Municipal Chairperson). The
students moved to public places by marching uniformly. The social awareness drama “Onnanu
Nammal” was presented in different corners of Kayamkulam town viz., K.S.R.T.C bus stand,
MEDA Mukku, Mukkavala, Police station and Municipal complex. There was a concluding
function at the college.
Pothu Vidyabhasa Yagnam
Students participated in ‘PothuvidyabhasaYagnam’ sponsored by Government which was
conducted at GBHSS, Kayamkulam School campus on 27th January 2017. As part of the
function, students participated in the cleaning programme. They removed plastic and other waste
materials from public places.
CHETHANA- Community Based Activity
Students and staff collected papers and donated to Chethana organisation as a part of community
service programme on 31/01/2017. Chetana is a NGO which is active in providing financial help
to cancer patients at RCC.
World Wetland Day
As part of world wetland day 2017, KUCTE, Kayamkulam with the support of Kerala state
Council for Science Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) organized a seminar “Healthy
wetlands for a better future” on February 2, 2017 at the college auditorium.
More than 100 participants including teacher education students, teachers, academic staff of our
college and nearby schools participated in the seminar.
In the inaugural session, Smt. Rani Rajan, Asst. Prof. in Social Science & the programme
coordinator delivered welcome speech. The function was presided by Smt. Hemalatha T Asst.
Prof. in Natural Science & senior faculty of the college who delivered the presidential address.
The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. K. Manikaraj, Hon’ble Member Syndicate, University of
Kerala, Prof in Tamil, University college, Thiruvananthapuram, Sri. Salahudeen A and Sri. K.
Muraleedharan wished all success to the venture. Smt. Sherlikutty T Molikkal, Principal,
G.B.H.S.S, Kayamkulam, Smt.J. Sudha, Headmistress G.B.H.S, Kayamkulam gave the
felicitations. Staff Advisor Dr. Smitha J. M., Asst. Prof. In perspectives of Education expressed
gratitude to all participants.
Thematic session
First session on the seminar was handled by Sri. Abraham Thomas M on “Wetland Diversity of
Kerala: Need for its conservation for the water security of the state”.
Second session was handled by Sri. Hari, Mavelikara on “Floral diversity and organisms in the
wetland of Kerala”. The two sessions were highly informative. Other activities conducted are
slide presentation of the theme, paper presentations and essay competition. Students of KUCTE,
Kayamkulam made oral and poster presentations and the participants of essay competition were
the higher secondary students of GGHSS school.
Our sincere thanks to Kerala State Council for Science Technology and environment for
supporting us in organizing the seminar in connection with the world wetland day.
National Science Day Celebration
The Science day celebrations were organized on February 2 with science observation, sky
observation, one day seminar, science survey, power point presentation and caption writing
competition. The inaugural function was presided by Smt. Hemalatha. The programme was
inaugurated by K. Manikaraj, Hon’ble member syndicate, University of Kerala. He spoke about
the need for inspiring teachers that carves exceptionally good children. A seminar was organized
in connection with it. Arrangements were made in the campus for sky observation in association
with Kerala State Science and Technology Museum. The students actively participated with
enthusiasm. The students were also given opportunities to present their contribution as power
point presentations. A caption writing competition was also conducted. The students from
different institutions participated in the programme.
Arts Day- Venalmazha
The Arts day for the academic year 2016-17 was celebrated as “Venal Mazha” on 28 th February
and 1st March 2017. The arts fest was inaugurated by cinema and theatre artists- Smt.Divya
Gopinath and Sri. Akash Dev. Sri.Madhu.S, Assistant professor in Performing Arts was the
programme coordinator. The welcome-speech was delivered by Dr. SunithKumar G.N, Principal.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr.K.C Sebastian, College Union Chairman 2016-18.
Felicitation was given by Smt. Sherly Kutti.T.Molikkal, Principal, G.H.S.S, Kayamkulam;
Sri.Muralidas, Academic Coordinator, KUCTE, Kayamkulam and Sri.Nidhin Ratheesh, College
Union Chairman 2015-2017. Inagural fuction was followed by colourful and variety programs
performed by the student teachers.
18th Annual Athletic Meet
The 18th Annual Athletic Meet was held on 4th March 2017. The athletic Meet inauguration and
flag hosting was done by Sri .N.S Saleem Kumar, Dy. Commissionar of Excise Alappuzha. The
programme was conducted in the College ground. Excellent Athletic performances were
witnessed in the College ground. The programme convener was Sri. Shanavas.B., Asst. Prof.
Physical Education. For the function welcome speech was delivered by Sri.Shanavas.B, the
convenor of Athletic Meet. The chair of the meet was Dr.SunithKumar.G.N, Principal of
KUCTE, Kayamkulam. The oath taking was done after the march past by Devika.S, Sports club
secretary followed by other students. Felicitation for the athletic meet were given by

Traffic Awareness Programme
A awareness class on traffic rules and regulation was conducted in programme in on 07/03/2017.
It was mainly focused on creating awareness about the traffic rules to auto drivers in the town.
Auto drivers of Kayamkulam town and all the students participated in the seminar. The
programme was arranged by Traffic Police Station Authorities and they acted as resource persons.
World Womens Day Celebration
The world women’s day was celebrated in the college on 8 th March 2017 in our college
auditorium. The celebrations began with a prayer song led by the college choir team. The
meeting waspreceded over by the college Principal. Adv.O.Hariz an officiate member of Juvenile
section court, an active guide and councillor was our chief guest. The day celebrated with the
message of protecting women’s dignity and need of creating a cultural society in our attitude
today. All the students participated actively. The meeting was concluded with a vote of thanks.

Mid Semester Examination
The mid-semester examination for the academic year was conducted from 6 th March to 10th
March 2017. All the students were present for the examination.
Study Tour To Goa
The study tour programme of a second semester was scheduled to Goa from 21 st March 2017 to
24th March 2017. Forty two student teachers and eight staffs involved the group. The journey
started at 11’o clock in the morning on 21st March 2017 in Netravati Express.Various committees
were formed like –Entertainment committee, Food committee , Attentance Committee &
Discipline Comittee. . Teachers were given charge of various committees-Financing committee
was in charge Smt.Anupama V.S, Attendance was in Charge Dr.Smitha J.M, Cultural programme
in charge of Sri.Madhu.S, Food committee in charge of Smt.RaniRajan and Disciline committee
in charge of Sri.Shanavas.B.Dr. G.N. SunithKumar ,Principal was the general convenor of the
tour. In Goa students visited the important places like the historical church (Basilica), A plastic
manufacturing company, Colva beach, Dona Paula, National institute of oceanography and Augua
fort. Variety entertainment programmes were also arranged in the tour programme.
One Day Trip To Thiruvananthapuram
As a part of B.Edcurriculum a one day tour was arranged to Thiruvananthapuram on 22nd March
2017. The trip involved 8 students and 2 teachers. Places visited were zero waste management
institution “Thanal”, International Sea port Vizhinjam, Marine Aquarium at Vizhinjam and
Kovalam beach.
Model Examination
Second Semester model exam was conducted on 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th March and 3rdApril
respectively. The exam duration was two hours from 10am to 12 Noon. Model examination for
the IIIrd semester was conducted on 27th and 30th March.
Tour to Athirapally
The second year students visited Ezhattumukham and Athirapalli water falls on 28 th April 2014.
The journey started at 7.30 am in a tourist bus. Twenty five students were accompanied by four
teaching staff. The group returned on 29th April 2014 at 4.00 AM in the college campus. All the
students enjoyed the marvelous experience provided by Mother Nature.
Farewell Day Celebration
Kerala University College of Teacher Education, Kayamkulam, celebrated farewell function of
2015-2017 batches on 30th March 2017. Farewell treat for second years were given by first year
students. A small party was arranged and variety entertainment programme were conducted.

College Day Celebration
The college day for the 2015-17 batch was conducted on 30 th March 2017 . The function named
“ormacheppu-The dazzling dream comes true” was organised in the college auditorium. The
function started with the welcome speech of Dr. SunithKumar.G.N,Principal. Adv. N.
Shivadasan, Honourable chairman, Municipality, Kayamkulam inaugurated the function.
Presidential address was delivered by Sri. Nithin Ratheesh (college union chairman 2015-
2017).Ms.Arya Joseph, General secretary of college union 2015-17 presented union
report. .Felicitation speeches were delivered by Sri.MuraliDas,Academic coordinator & Mr..
Sebastian K.C (union chairman 2016-18) Various ever rolling trophies were presented to various
houses. Orchid house won ever rolling trophy for Arts corner. Rose house won ever rolling trophy
for winning maximum number of points in various activities.
Open House
Open house for the academic year 2016-17 was held on 31st March 2017. Parents of the student
teachers visited the institution and met their respective teachers and evaluated their son/daughters
progress in learning.
College Development Council (CDC) Meeting
As per the University norms, monthly meetings of the CDC were held and with the approval
of the University. The purchase SONY LCD Projector, 8 x 6 screen, Honda Grass Cutter, laser
printer, Almirah, maintenance of computer, electrification, plumbing, campus beautification,
access to High Speed Internet connection, CCTV Camera, Digital Camera etc. were done
using the funds of the CDC.
At this juncture, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to each and
every one – the teaching and the non-teaching staff of KUCTE Kayamkulam, the Union
members, all the student teachers, the CDC office bearers and the parents for their support
in smooth conduct of the college activities. My sincere thanks are also to the school
authorities - Smt. Sherlykutty T. Molikkal, Principal, GBHSS, Kayamkulam, Smt. J. Sudha,
Headmistress, GBHS, Kayamkulam and Headmistress, GGHS, Kayamkulam for extending
their complete co-operation and support during this academic year.
