Sep 28 (Thursday): Lunch Bunch – Palmettos on the Bayou ▪ enjoy a true slice of Louisiana on the beautiful Bayou Bonfouca among lush cypress trees and moss laden oaks ▪ amazing food awaits you in the private Bayou Room featuring a three-course sit down lunch ▪ call office for menu selection$43.00 p.p. Nov 5 (Sunday) Matinee Performance at the Westwego Performing Arts Theater – Caroline, or Change ▪ Set in 1963 Louisiana, a provocative story of political, social, and pocket change ▪ Caroline is a single African American mother working for a white family in Lake Charles LA ▪ a tender friendship develops between Caroline and the family’s young son ▪ the boy’s stepmother, unable to give Caroline a raise, tells her she may keep any money the boy leaves in his pockets ▪ Caroline hates to take money from a child, but her own children desperately need food, & clothes ▪ outside of the laundry room, some of the greatest social advancements the country has seen are being set in motion, and change is knocking on the door ▪ book & lyrics by Tony Kushner ▪ score by Jeanine Tesori combining spirituals, blues, Motown, classical music, and Jewish klezmer & folk music ▪ produced in collaboration with the Loyola University Dept of Theater Arts ▪ this is a self-drive event at the Westwego Performing Arts Theater, 177 Sala Ave, Westwego, LA ▪ doors open 1:30 p.m. ▪ performance 2:00 p.m. (this event will also be published in the Oct Newsletter, but please use the Sep registration form if you wish to attend) $34 p.p.
