It went through substantial changes between 2014-2016 and now, with the support of Sport England as its major funder, it is well positioned to move into the new 4 year funding cycle. The Table Tennis England Mission 2025 strategy aligns well with the Sport England strategy ‘Towards an Active Nation’. Table tennis is a sport and activity that lends itself both to having a dedicated ‘core market’ as well as a growing ‘mass market’ which attracts new people to the sport as well as providing a gateway to physical activity. The Ping! project is best known as a popular ping pong festival which, working with local partners, places tables complete with bats and balls in public spaces for people to use. In 2016 there were over 1.7 million table visits by more than 900,000 unique participants across 21 cities. London hosts Ping! tables and activities in a variety of vibrant high footfall locations and has huge potential to grow, to enable regular participation, to engage under- represented in sport groups and to gain significant profile. This role will support the planning and delivery of Ping! London. JOB SUMMARY & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:This role forms part of the team whose focus is on increasing participation in recreational table tennis, using the Ping! project as a catalyst for this. The successful applicant will have the following main tasks;

Consider the London Ping! audit, relevant insight and partner support to create a Ping! London action plan to achieve the objectives of the Ping! project.

Lead on establishing play on opportunities including setting up Ping Pong Parlours and Loop in the Community projects.

Audit the existing Ping! tables across London, carefully mapping their exact locations, recording the condition of these assets and liaising with suppliers and Table Hosts to arrange necessary repairs.

Work with Table Hosts and Donation Recipients to ‘activate’ tables throughout the summer months by supplying bats and balls, organising events and activities and creating more sustainable opportunities for people to ‘Play On’.

Identify opportunities to develop and enhance the Ping! London project in future years by creating and developing relationships with local partners, volunteers and participants.

Work with the Ping! Marketing and Media Officer to promote the Ping! London 2017 project and to promote play on opportunities.

Implement monitoring and evaluation of Ping! London participation and interventions. Contribute to the Ping! website and annual project report.

General Responsibilities

Be the main point of contact for enquiries relating to Ping! London.

Where appropriate liaise with the Safeguarding and Ethics Manager to understand the relevant standards and ensure implementation throughout the project.

Act as an ambassador and advocate of Table Tennis England. Undertake such duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the

post and the needs of Table Tennis England.

The job holder will work with and be supported by the two Table Tennis England Mass Participation Officers, but will work independently to complete the above tasks. The role will be hosted by London Sport and will be both field and desk based. Desk based work will be undertaken at the House of Sport, Central London.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience

It is anticipated the successful candidate will have some experience relevant to this type of project through either volunteering experience, experience in a creative, marketing or sports development role or through studying a related qualification involving an element of practical experience.

Skills

An interest in social table tennis and physical activity IT capabilities and experience of using Outlook, Word, Excel and social media platforms Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a range of partners, volunteers and participants Excellent time management skills, with the ability to plan and work logically A high level of energy and drive to follow through on plans and projects Willing to work occasional extended hours and unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends A basic understanding of safeguarding and diversity principles Ability to travel across London, including to some remote locations
