5th Grade Heart Dissection - A major event that happens once a year as part of the science
curriculum is Heart Dissection Day. The event was organized by Mr. Cichowicz along with
Mrs. Kocher and Mrs. Polena. Schroeder teamed up with Boulan students and Boulan
teacher, Ms. Gilbert. A large number of special guests visited the school to witness
Schroeder’s hands on learning. These included Shama Kenkre, Sharon Spagnola, Paula
Fleming, Robert Preston, Julie McClure, Wade Fleming, Kris Griffor, Martin Howyrlak, Brian
Canfield, Tony Morse, Rick West, Dave Henderson, Tony Lucchi, Lisa Georges, and Carolyn
Szymanski. This is an incredible event for our incredible students! More pictures and a

Schroeder Elementary School Shoe Collection - We recognize that the giving does
not stop when the giving season does. Therefore, Step On Poverty is hosting a shoe
collection at Schroeder Elementary School from January 23rd to January 27th. You
can help communities all around the world by donating lightly used pairs of shoes,
boots, sandals, dress shoes, etc. to boxes located next to the main office! We
recognize education as a crucial component to community development, so it is only
fitting we begin charity outreach at Schroeder Elementary School. Help us Step On
Poverty one step at a time. Step On Poverty (SOP) is a non-profit organization
founded in Troy, Michigan by a group of students from both Athens and Troy High
School. Our Board includes Varun Aitharaju (Athens), Varun Sathyan (Athens), Neha
Paragi (Athens), Josiah Willis (Troy High), and Michael Lin (Troy High and a former
Schroeder student). Our mission is centered on enacting responsible charitable acts in
Troy, empowering the youth, and developing the full potential of non-profit work.
