Our ECO History:Plans for establishing what would become ECO (Covenant Order of Evangelicals) were initiated in January 2012(Leesburg joined

March 2, 2013) by the Fellowship of Presbyterians (now The Fellowship Community), an umbrella organization of theologically conservative Presbyterians. ECO was conceived of as an alternative to the Presbyterian Church (USA), which theologically conservative Presbyterians considered too liberal. In particular, the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s decision to lift its ban on non-celibate gay and lesbian clergy in 2011 led a number of congregations to search for an alternative Presbyterian denomination. While other conservative Presbyterian churches in the United States existed, most of these, with the exception of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, did not permit female clergyECO statistics: As of January 2016, there are 252 congregations, 100,000 covenant partners (members), 59 churches in the pipeline to join ECO, 15 church plants, 25 church plants forming, 52 churches

requesting applications, 18 presbyteries, and 344 pastors.

GETHSEMANE GARDEN PRAYER VIGIL

Have you ever thought about being in the garden near Jesus that night? Have you ever wondered what it would have been like? Could you have stayed awake? How would you have felt when Jesus found you asleep? Could you not have prayed for just one hour? Each of you now has an opportunity to find the answer to these questions.

Many had this wonderful experience last year and we will again offer this evening of prayer following our Maundy Thursday service on April 2nd. Be watching for more information and prayerfully accept this invitation to stay and pray an hour with jesus. This is not a time to visit; it’s a time to pray, as Jesus asked us to do. Lights will be dimmed in the garden area. You may nod to one another, if you choose, as you come and go, but please refrain from any conversation in the Garden. We especially nvite any volunteer available to provide security during the night0-time hours and measures will be taken to keep the church safe for this experience. You may sign up in teams, with a friend or two, should you choose. Just remembe the intent. The garden that fateful night was not a social event.
