Homework: You are expected to study the grammar and prepare the assigned exercises before coming to class. Workbook chapters and lab manual exercises will be checked on the day of quizzes and randomly throughout the semester.*Please correct your workbook before handing it in. You are invited to use the workbook key and a red pen.*During the semester you will be asked to write short compositions on different topics. These should be typed, double-spaced, and approximately a paragraph in length (200-250 words). Oral presentations will also be required during the semester.

Language lab and DVDs: You are expected to spend a minimum of one hour per chapter per week, using the lab material on LATTE . Italian videos programs will be viewed in class and followed by in class discussions. You are required to watch 2 movies (on LATTE) before the class discussion is scheduled.

Quizzes/assessment: A vocab quiz will follow each chapter, and one which will include grammar + vocabulary + cultural questions when covered in class or announced by your instructor. NO MAKE-UP DATES unless previously arranged with the instructor for EXCEPTIONAL REASONS.

Midterm: a skit presentation and/or a written assessment TBAFinal: There will be a written and oral final exam. NO DATE CHANGE is allowed for the written exam. If you have a conflict with another language exam, please talk to your instructor and to the registrar to make the appropriate arrangements at least two weeks prior to the date scheduled by the University.The exam is TBA

Oral proficiency interviews: During the semester, (during midterm and finals) you will have an oral interview with your instructor to determine your level of language proficiency. This will help to improve and evaluate your aural skills in Italian and also will serve as a general assessment for the Italian program.

La Tavola Italiana: There will be a weekly meeting of the Italian Table to give students the opportunity to speak Italian in a relaxing and informal environment.
