Why College of the Rockies? There are a lot of post-secondary institutionsto choose from, so why should you choose College of the Rockies?

We like to think we’re pretty friendly and cool folks to hang out with but if that isn’t motivation enough, here are some other reasons you should consider starting or completing your post-secondary education with us:

Studies show students who start their post-secondary education at a college before going on to university are more successful than those who go directly to university.

COTR’s non-competitive entry means if you meet program admission requirements you are accepted on a “fi rst-applied, fi rst-admitted” basis.

We have options available for you to complete a certifi cate, a diploma, an Associate’s degree or a four-year Bachelor’s degree

We offer a wide variety of quality programs in arts and sciences, business, tourism, engineering, health, trades, child and youth studies and more.

Our small class sizes mean more personalized attention to help you to be successful

We have competitive tuition rates and affordable living costs.

Our spectacular lifestyle – surrounded by pristine mountains, lakes and trails you are never far from amazing hiking, biking or skiing opportunities.

We believe in letting you create your journey. Whether this means completing an entire vocational program here, starting your educational journey with us and transferring to university or taking online courses while working and taking care of your family, we want to help you fi nd the path that works for you.

This guide is a starting point for your journey. In it you will learn about our programs, our support services, campus life and about the Kootenay Rockies lifestyle. We will guide you through fi nancial aid options and admissions procedures and will introduce you to some of our former students.

The goal of our faculty and staff is to ensure you receive an outstanding experience in an excellent academic setting.

We hope you will make

College of the Rockies

a part of your journey.

Aboriginal

College of the Rockies greatly values the strong, successful relationships we have with our partners in Aboriginal Education, the Ktunaxa Nation, the Band Communities and the BC Metis Nation, Region Four. For many years we have worked in collaboration with Aboriginal communities on programs and projects aimed at continuing to improve access and quality of services for Aboriginal learners throughout the region.

The Aboriginal Advisory Committee, with representatives from each of these Aboriginal communities, is a very valuable resource to the College. Its members bring important community information to the College and provide guidance

and advice regarding programming and services. Due in large part to this committee’s hard work, new courses and programs offering relevant and extensive Aboriginal content are being developed on an ongoing basis.

Some programs developed to date are: Aboriginal Education Support Worker Aboriginal Financial Management
