MINUTES:Thank you for the snacks and refreshments. Marita gave us homework for next Sunday’s class. The complete handout is attached for you to review, but, in a nutshell, we are assigned to do (1) Find a partner (spouse, family member, friend, neighbor); (2) Begin and end each session

with prayer; (3) Become more comfortable speaking and listening to one person about our spiritual journey.

The paintings that David Cooley generously donated are still up for auction/bid. Ed Payton is working on how to have them up loaded to an art website for potential bidding to people outside of our circles. IF you know how to do this or have insight into the art world, please contact Ed Payton as he would be interested in talking to you about this subject.



As a reminder, we have carried over some funds to help with 2016 and any outstanding debts we may have from 2015. For any requested class expenditure, please contact a member of the Finance Committee: Bob Russell, Jim Embrey, Dave Grim or Karen Campbell (Emerita) & Jim McCann.

SOCIALS:



Hockey, anyone? The Social Committee is coordinating Maranatha folks to go to the Tulsa Oilers vs. Utah Grizzlies hockey game on Saturday, February 6 at 7:05 p.m. Group tickets are $13 each. We have a tight time frame on this. If you want to join the fun, you must contact Karen Campbell. Sign-up sheets went around this Sunday (and 23 people are going!). Sign-up sheets will go around one more Sunday on 1/24 and tickets will be purchased the following Monday, January 25th. All tickets must be paid for by January 24th. Your check or cash is your reservation. We can’t guarantee a momentous brawl on the ice, but we can guarantee epic fun, so come join us!



MISSIONS:On January 31st, we will be serving dinner for St. Luke’s Redemption Dinner/Meeting. This is a rescheduled event from December 27th based upon weather problems on the earlier date. A



clipboard went around in class on 1/10/16 and 1/17/16 so please contact Glenna Arnott or Jim Embrey to participate if you can.

Paul Staat’s PET scan was extremely encouraging and he is feeling very good. He was able to be in class with us on Sunday and we were grateful to have him there!



Kendall Carpenter’s father, Jack Wynn, is celebrating his 90th birthday and the family is grateful for his continued good health and independence.

Nancy and Suzan Morgan’s father has turned 92 and they are grateful for the good days that he has.

David Rose was diagnosed with prostate cancer and will be undergoing treatment. It was caught early and the prognosis is good, but he and Susan would appreciate prayers from the class.

Pam Low fell and broke her knee in Colorado. She had surgery and is now recovering but will be non-weight bearing for at least two months. Her address is: P. O. Box 3061, Crested Butte, CO 81224

Lee Ann Nichols’ brother had a stroke and his recovery is uncertain.



Bethany Willyard’s birth father has serious health issues which may impede her ability to develop a closer relationship with him.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:APPRECIATION PARTY AND DATE CHANGE – We learned this week that the church staff is planning a big party on Friday, February 26, 2016, to honor our own Shari Goodwin as she



retires from her many years of service as Director of Communications for Boston Avenue. David Wiggs has informed us that all of Maranatha will be invited to the party! To make sure that we can all support and celebrate our friend Shari’s accomplishments, we are moving the Maranatha Social previously planned for that night (Private Planetarium Viewing and Los Cabos Dinner) to Friday, March 4th. Please put both events on your calendar and plan to celebrate in style!

ADVENT SPEAKERS SOUGHT – It is always special to have our Advent lessons taught by members of our own class, and is something to which our class looks forward all year. If you



would be willing to teach one Sunday during Advent (December 11, December 18 & December 25), please contact Michelle Place to discuss scheduling.
