Roger Chubin's EHS Committee's programs, particularly TMDL and Professional Progress are moving along. HR/Education continues its ambitious workshop program. I urge you to attend the August 21 workshop on Workers Comp Reform. Government Relations under Doug Duncan was actively involved in Tallahassee this past session, and its campaign to invite local and state officials to its monthly meeting is a resounding success. Mark Faircloth and his Community Relations Committee hosted the Suns Family Night with over 400 in attendance and plans a repeat visit on July 31, as well as a Jaguars Family Night on August 28. Its two After Hours have been well attended and the third for the year is scheduled for September. Pete Helow's PR Subcommittee has launched the quarterly Manufacturing Times, and VOICE is available electronically. By the way, Phase II of the website, which is for members only will be completed this fall. The Lean Consortium headed by Jerry Bussell will receive David Chao, a renowned expert in early August. Paul Kamke is evaluating how to best fit his IT subcommittee into our organization. WOW! I get excited just writing about the number of programs and activities. FCMA at Midyear

FCMA at Midyear is in excellent shape.

We are well on our way to a record year in membership, thanks to Cindy Hildebrand and the entire involvement of the Board. Even better, retention of existing members is at a near record high. Roger Chubin's EHS Committee's programs, particularly TMDL and Professional Progress are moving along. HR/Education continues its ambitious workshop program. I urge you to attend the August 21 workshop on Workers Comp Reform. FCMA UNF Engineering Scholarship Reaches GoalFCMA celebrated reaching its $25,000 endowment goal by presenting a check to Dean Neal Coulter of UNF at the June General Meeting at Hartley Press. The goal was reached thanks to the hard work of Community Relations' Golf Subcommittee headed by Chris McNees.

Professional Progress Wrapping UpThis year's class is drawing to a close. The group visited the newsroom of Channel 12 in conjunction with its session on the media and presentation skills. They will also perform community service this month, and complete the program at the August 13 session and graduation dinner on August 21.

The success of the group is due in part to the great rapport they have shared. They even got together on their own for a cook-out at one of the student's home.

If you are interested in participating in next year's class, please contact Debbie in the FCMA office.

Naval Aviation Depot - Change of CommandHail and farewell! Welcome new Commanding Officer Captain David Beck. The ceremonies took place on Friday, July 18.Captain Karl Yeakel, who was recognized with a Meritorious Service Medal during the event presented by RADM Wally Massenburg, will retire and remain in Jacksonville. Cintas will be showing off its state-of-the-art facility. They are located in Tradeport, located near the airport.

Cintas provides corporate identity uniform programs which it rents or sells to customers throughout the U.S. and Canada. They also provide entrance mats, sanitation supplies, and first aid products and services. Cintas has been a member of FCMA since 1999.

June Meeting at Hartley PressOver 100 members visited Hartley Press on June 30. Mike and his Hartley family rolled out the red carpet, opening its doors to FCMA members who toured the facilities--which is home to the largest printing company in the First Coast.

2003 Contributors

Each year FCMA conducts a Platinum Plus Campaign to fund selected FCMA activities. The Board of Directors encourages eachmember to contribute to the 2003 campaign. The Board recently approved increasing our goal to $45,000 to fund the following special events:

* JU Speakers Series * FCMA Website * Manufacturers Economic Study * "Thank You, Teachers" * Public Relations and Publicity

Contributions may range from $100 to $5,000 per company. The following members are making the 2003 drive a success.
