Crystal Vision offers a range of four
variable video delays to match every
application and budget.
Providing from half a second to 43
seconds of HD delay and from two seconds
to 238 seconds of SD delay, the ViViD
video delay lines are ideal for use anywhere
you need to match delays in your system.
Carefully designed to have the exact set of
features a broadcast engineer needs in his
video delay, they are the essential building
block in the HD or SD television studio –
and even include the ability to delay any
embedded data.
They are also very different to the space-
consuming 1U box alternatives found
elsewhere. The small physical size of the
ViViD modules means you can fit 12 of
them in 2U – alongside any other products.
Nobody else does these modular delay
lines offering such a range of delay:
Crystal Vision is definitely the answer to all
your video delay requirements.
Video Delays
Choose the perfect variable video delay line foryour HD or SD application – available in four versions
Match any video delays in your system – includingvirtual studio graphics, MPEG encoders/decoders,audio processing, HD radio links, satellite links andprofanity delays
Maximum SD delays: two seconds (ViViD124), threeseconds (ViViD HD), 119 seconds (ViViD HD-20) and238 seconds (ViViD HD-40)
Maximum HD delays: 0.5 seconds (ViViD HD), 21seconds (ViViD HD-20) and 43 seconds (ViViD HD-40)
Get the exact delay you need with very flexibleadjustments – from pixels right up to seconds
Save yourself a DA in your system design withmultiple delayed outputs (four outputs onViViD124 and ViViD HD and three on ViViD HD-20and ViViD HD-40)
Recall different delay values easily with 16 presets(ViViD HD, ViViD HD-20 and ViViD HD-40)
Pass the entire video stream – including embeddedaudio
Protect your programme output with relay bypassprotection (ViViD HD-20 and ViViD HD-40)
Space-saving: 100mm x 266mm modules allows12 delay lines in 2U (24 in 4U, six in 1U and two indesk top box)
Flexible control, including PC software
The ViViD variable video delays are availablein four versions to suit all lengths of delayand budgets. Choose...
The ViViDs are suitable for a wide variety ofapplications – wherever you need to match systemdelays elsewhere in your equipment chain.
They are perfect for the virtual studio. Usethem to offset the delay caused by the graphicsgenerators – delaying the camera by the sameamount as the virtual set graphics so that thevideo feed and graphics both reach the chromakeyer at the same time.
Compensate for MPEG encoders and decodersto co-time your transmissions.
Use them in audio processing applications to match your video toaudio that's been delayed by Dolby E encoding or decoding.
Help OB vehicles using MPEG-compressed HD radio links to remotelycontrol wireless hand-held cameras by delaying the other signals.
Or match the delay caused by a satellite link. The ViViD HD-20 and ViViD HD-40 are perfect for use as part of a
profanity delay system on live broadcasts - preventing expletives, bloopers, wardrobe malfunctions, fits of coughing or technical problems frommaking it to air. Or use them for any other extended delays you can thinkof! They offer you total freedom by giving you so much delay to play with.
Whether you need a short delayor an incredibly long delay, thereis a ViViD to suit you – with theflexible adjustments availablemaking it very easy to select theexact delay time you require...down to the pixel!
For Standard Definition delays...ViViD124 gives up to 2.08 seconds (52 frames) of SD delay in 625 lineand 2.0 seconds (60 frames) in 525 line, with a minimum setting of fivemicroseconds.
ViViD HD gives up to 3.12 seconds (78 frames) of SD delay in 625 line andand 3.103 seconds (93 frames) in 525 line, with a minimum delay of 2.3µs.
ViViD HD-20 offers an SD delay range from 46µs up to 119 seconds. And should you need four minutes of SD delay, then the ViViD HD-40 willgive you 238 seconds, with a minimum delay of 46µs.
The ViViDs delay not just the activepicture but the entire video stream, withembedded audio and ancillary datastaying with the associated video. This,of course, allows them to be usedwithout restrictions in embedded areas.
16 presets will save you time –allowing different delay values to beassigned then recalled automatically bythe studio control system using GPIs.These presets are available on ViViD HD,ViViD HD-20 and ViViD HD-40.
The ViViDs will save you rack space, allowing you to fit a remarkable 12 videodelays in 2U. Or, of course, you can mixthem with any other boards! These100mm x 266mm modules are housed inCrystal Vision's standard rack frames(available in four sizes, from 4U to desktop box) alongside any other products
from the range, including the chroma keyers. You'll get so many outputs, you're likely to save yourself a distribution
amplifier in your system design too! ViViD124 is used with the RM01frame rear module to get four SDI outputs along with a reclocked inputloop-through. Using ViViD HD with the RM34 rear module gives access tothe four HD or SD outputs. ViViD HD-20 and ViViD HD-40 both use theRM44 rear module for three HD or SD outputs, with the rear module alsohelping to maintain programme output by providing relay bypassprotection of the input in the event of power failure or board malfunctionor removal.
Like all Crystal Vision products, the video delays are effortlessly easy toset up and use. There is a choice of control options to suit all preferences, including board edge switches, an active front panel on the frame,a remote control panel, SNMP or the Statesman PC software.

THE FOUR VERSIONS OF VIVID...
...ViViD124 for delaying Standard Definition sources.Perfect for those lower cost applications requiring upto two seconds of SD delay.
...ViViD HD for those shorter High Definition delays, with up to half a second of HD delay. It will also giveyou three seconds in SD.
...ViViD HD-20 for matching any long HD or SD delaysin your system. Part of the Picturestore productrange, ViViD HD-20 includes a 4 GB DRAM video storegiving 21 seconds of HD delay or 119 seconds in SD.
...ViViD HD-40 for the ultimate video delay – providingan exceptionally long delay for any HD or SDapplications. Like ViViD HD-20, it forms part ofthe Picturestore product range with its 8 GBDRAM video store which provides 43 seconds ofHD delay or 238 seconds in SD.
For High Definition delays...With a minimum delay of 673ns, ViViD HD provides over half a second
(560ms) of delay in HD. The number of frames is dependent on the HDformat, with 14 frames in 1080i50, 17 frames in 1080i.59.94, 28 framesin 720p50 and 34 frames in 720p59.94. All other input formats areassigned the default value of 42 frames.
ViViD HD-20 gives up to 21 seconds of delay in HD, with a minimumsetting of 12µs.
For those really long HD delays, 43 seconds is available from the ViViDHD-40, with a minimum delay of 12µs.
And the delay adjustments...?ViViD124 is adjustable in steps of fields, lines and groups of six pixels.ViViD HD can be adjusted in increments of frames, lines and individualpixels. Finally, ViViD HD-20 and ViViD HD-40 offer adjustments in seconds, frames, lines and pixels – for true flexibility.
