The actual size of the monitored area depends on theheight and the position of the camera.

The key factor in a Traficon detection system is the VIP(Video Image Processor), a standard detector board onwhich several types of detection software can be run. Thevideo signal from the camera monitoring the traffic is usedas input for the detection unit. Detection lines aresuperposed on to the video image. Vehicles crossing theselines are detected. The VIP analyses the video images togenerate traffic data and alarms. Detector boards aregrouped in rack systems. Dedicated boards handlecompression of images and transmission of data, alarmsand images.

When an incident occurs, you can see what hashappened, how many vehicles are involved, thegeneral traffic situation at that point, etc.

Immediate visual feedback guarantees of properfunctioning. Very often, the cause of unexpectedresults can be deduced from the image.

Data needed for pro-active and reactive trafficmanagement is available.The WATTS (Wide Area Traffic Telematics Server)PC software monitors the VIP detection system.
