HISTORY OF VIDEO CONFERENCINGAccording to Wipedia Finally, in the 1990s,

IP (Internet Protocol) based videoconferencing became possible, and more efficient video compression technologies were developed, permitting desktop, or personal computer (PC)-based videoconferencing. In 1992 CU-SeeMe was developed at Cornell by Tim Dorcey et al. In 1995 the First public videoconference and peace cast between the continents of North America and Africa took place, linking a techno air in San Francisco with a techno-rave and cyber deli in Cape Town. At the Winter Olympics opening ceremony in Nagano, Japan, Seiji Ozawa conducted the Ode to Joy from Beethoven's Ninth Symphony simultaneously across five continents in near-real time.

Skype is one of the many free internet video chats that is available online for personal use.

ARE THERE ANY PROBLEMS WITH VIDEO CONFERENCING?

The problems that has arise with video conferencing is the lack of eye contact when each person can see the other’s body language through the live streaming of video. Traditionally, when we use land line phones we can see not see the other’s personal cues. Therefore, the impression is only through the use of words heard and not seen. The second problem is more psychological to the instant of people do not like to be watched or dress up for the other individual is on the other end of the live video stream.

VIDEO CONFERENCING’S FIVE STAGES IN THE INNOVATION PROCESS

CENTRALIZED OR DECENTRALIZED APROACH?

I believe a decentralized approach would work best for adoption of the innovation I will propose to the Board of Directors. According to (Roger and Kincaid, 1981),

decentralized diffusion systems more closely follow a convergence model of communication, in which participants create and share information with one

another in order to reach a mutual understanding.

I would recommend small business owners and educators as change agents in my organization because they have the voice that is confident and assure the public

whether this innovation is worth their time in investing.

I do not believe video innovation has not reach the critcal mass society because many businesses or higher education institutions have not achieve the response needed to be beneficial to everyone. Psychological people have not yet become

comfortable with the ideal of people want others to see them as they talk on a video phone.
