I really liked this music video, and there are many aspects in which links to our music video. The music video enhances the up beat and youthful pop/rock song, as the conceptual video it brings out the beats and different instruments used. The music video definitely meets those of a pop/rock genre, as the music video is very lively, fun and illustrates the music well.During the music video, only the cut transition is used, this because it is a conceptual video and the Cut transition is used best because it is quick so it’s easier to match the rhythm. Most of the camera shots, are just still framed, there is no tracking or any camera movement, which is done mainly because this is a conceptual video, and drum beats are emphasised better with still framed shots. The rule of thirds is used consistently throughout the music video; I think this is done purely because it gives a sense of equality within the band. The band members almost look like toy figurines and the well framed shots may be used to add emphasis this.

In some of the Shots, the Female character is not in any of the thirds, but she is obstructing in between two of the thirds. This connotes that she is maybe obstructing the bands relationship. Also the band are wearing quite dull colours in respect to the girl, who is dressed in bright yellow, which also may show her role in maybe splitting the relationship in the band because of the colour contrast.

During the music video, there are also small animations of what looks like, a hypnotising circle, with each of the band members centralised. This connotes why the boys are so indulged into this girl, because they are hypnotised. Also each of the circles includes the colour yellow, which is the same colour of the top which the girl, this emphasises the message of their song.

There is also some more animation of swirly lines coming out of the girl. Its adds to the whole idea of the girl being a hypnotising, and her central stand in the frame adds to the fact she is important. In the last picture, there is animation of the boxes moving from side to side, as well as the circles bouncing around her. The three different animations of the background behind the girl, may imply the different ways each of the band members see her, from their illusion.

The girl is viewed as a stereotypical female representation, from many aspects. During the beginning of the video, there are many restricted shots of the girl, which pin point the many female characteristics.

The red stiletto is an iconic symbol, which symbolises a female, as well as the colour red symbolising love or lust.

This shot also influences the out of reach desire, but from one band member.

This mid shot shows that the females figure is an important aspect, and from her hands on her hips, make her look more stereotypical.

From the multiple number of hands reaching out to touch the girls arm, it connotes that she is some sort of desire, but cannot be reached.

This shot adds emphasises the hypnotisation between the boys and the girl. The iconic symbols are her skirt and hips as they influence her stereotypical female character..

I denote the silhouette of the girl in front of the band member, which may connote the girl has some sort of sex reference.

There are a lot of close ups and extreme close ups used when the band members are singing, this may be used to emphasis the lyrics.

I really like the use of the fake piano, as though you know its not real, it adds to the surreal effect the band are trying to create. The playing of the piano, adds to the performance aspect, and it brings out the instruments which aren’t as noticeable. The tapping of the head for the drums is also another aspect which I quite liked since it adds to the surrealism. I also liked the clapping of the hands, as that also engages the audience of the clapping sound which is only slightly heard.

I think the surrealism effect of the video, very much links to our music video. Especially the performance in the fake piano, as well as conceptual aspects such as tapping the head illustrating a drum, this links to the Mento’s and coke idea, we are going to use for the impact of the drums.

I think the ending is also similar to ours, as it is a sort of twist, since the girl is just a cardboard cut out. This is similar to ours since our ending twists with the boy dreaming, dreams of the boy coming into his room. So in our video, the dream becomes a reality and in this video the reality is that the girl is just a dream.
