And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods

which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

outline

“As for me and my house we will serve the Lord,” was a great resolution Joshua declared. Such

was a result of one great decision he had ever made, and a great decision every head of the family must make. In as much as God wants to see every Christian family to be strong in the Lord, Satan like-wise always tries to make a way to destroy it, either through financial difficulty, relationship issue or au-thority problem. God is so gracious that He provided us His Word to strengthen us and give us principles when tough situations like these happen.

This month of March, let us continue to follow up our Anniversary visitors. It was a blessing to see God giving us a combined attendance of more than 3,200 last Sunday morning. We should not let a victorious month be followed by defeat. Let us not be weary in well doing. I am happy to inform you that together with my wife and 2 sons, I was privileged this past week to speak for a 3 day- revival meeting in the province of Bohol. It was indeed a blessing to see and hear that our church’s zeal is an influence to them. So, let us keep on serving Him!

While the world is still trying to find shelter and answer to its confusions and tragedies, we should be joyful because we know that Jesus Christ is already the answer. We must just be responsible enough in telling others about Him and in serving Him.

Victorious Christian Living (Handling Family Problems)Ruth 1:1-7 / Romans 15:4

I. The problems in the home must be handled with caution in times of desperate circumstances. A. Families must support each other during material famine. B. Families must safeguard each other during moral famine. C. Families must stay together during missionary famine.

II. The problems in the home must be held in (to keep under control) with care in times of dangerous choices. A. During difficult times, families must not stray away (get lost, wander off) toward the prodigal land. B. During difficult times, families must stay away from the polluted land. C. During difficult times, families must stay in the promised land. III. The problems in the home if not held off (to not occur) with concern will result into deadly consequences. A. A problem not dealt with properly will result to a disciplinary action by God. B. A problem not dealt promptly will result to a death of a home. C. A problem not dealt purposefully will result to a defeat in the home.

IV. The problems in the home must be hurdled (to jump over an obstacle) with concentration by deliberate changes. A. Family problems will be resolved by a realization. B. Family problems will be resolved by repentance. C. Family problems will be resolved by returning to God’s will.

“Never tell a young person that something cannot be done. God may have been waiting for countless centuries for somebody ignorant enough of the impossibility to do that thing.”

JAPAN’S DEVASTATIONWhy Did God Allow This to Happen?

An 8.9-magnitude earthquake strike Sendai, Japan last Friday at 2:46 pm which triggered a fero-cious tsunami raging at a 500 km/h rate. 30-foot walls of water literally swept everything on its way. Hundreds of people died, many are still missing, and many properties are destroyed amounting to billions of dollars. Japan at this point of time was just devastated, but one may ask, “Why did God allow this to happen?” Let us view this event from God’s perspective that He had shown in His Word. Here are 3 reasons that we can find in the Bible:

To punish a pagan nation“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” Psalm 9:17Japan is a sun-worshipping nation. They do not believe on the Almighty God Who created the vast universe we are living in. Another vile thing is the rampant movement of the homosexuals in Sendai. No wonder why God brought judgment to this nation because of its wickedness.

To show man his limitation“...he knoweth our frame...we are dust.” Psalm103:14One day prior to the killer tsunami, series of earthquakes that range from 5-7 magnitude already shook the ground. But what was amazing is that no single building collapsed on that day. An American interview then commended the engineers and structural designs of the buildings in Japan. However, God could not be intimidated by man’s wisdom. No matter how good and strong a man-made structure may be, it is still no match to God’s infinite power. Man has nothing to be proud of in front of a great God.

To remind Christians of His Coming“...what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?... there shall be...earthquakes, in divers places.” Matthew 24:3-7One of the signs that Jesus gave to His disciples concerning His Second Coming is the earthquake. Thousands of earthquakes had been recorded in the 20th century. We are now in the last days. The questions now arise for us Christians, “Are you pre-pared to meet thy God? Are you involving yourself in fulfilling the Great Commission?” Truly, time is too short for the service of the King. Serve Him NOW.

"PAMILYANG AYON SA KALOOBAN NG DIYOS"Beata B. Agustin SATAN knows that God created marriage as a

beautiful, living picture of Christ and the Church. God designed both marriage and the family for our benefit. Satan knows the value of the family, how it is the fabric of a good solid society, the foundation of vibrant growing assemblies, and the future of God’s work on earth. If Satan can be successful in tearing down the structure and substance of the family unit, then he will be successful in damaging what is dear to God’s heart.

When God finished creating the first couple, He called what He had made “very good.” This man and woman were united in a holy bond before God.

Satan’s initial attack on the family occurred in Eden where the old serpent worked his evil deception on Eve and destroyed the harmony of the first mar-riage. … Satan’s attack on the family has continued until today. There are signs of it all around us. With the increasing rate of divorce, the acceptance of common-law relationships, the barrage of Hollywood immorality, and the legalization of same gender marriages, we can see how successful Satan has been in twisting and perverting God’s best for us and depriving us of the blessings that marriage brings to the family.

Good marriages are the foundation of solid fami-lies. If Satan can successfully destroy the marriage, this will have a devastating impact upon the rest of the family. According to a recent survey,1 85% of all children that exhibit behavioral disorders come from fatherless homes. However, even when a father is present, if the parents are not married, it is still detrimental to the children. … The United States has the weakest families in the Western world because we have the highest divorce rate and the highest rate of solo parenting.” God, in His wisdom, knew that children needed the stability of married parents.

Two truths, which appear repeatedly in these passages, are the headship of the husband and the submission of the wife.

Satan has done a masterful job at distorting these two divine mandates (headship and submission). So often we see men who authoritatively control fami-lies in a selfish, self-serving way. The other extreme, in which men cede the responsibility for guiding the family to the wife, is also widespread. Correspondingly, while some women are dominated by their husbands, others seek to be the controlling force in the home and do not respect them. These scenarios reveal how successful Satan has been in persuading people to abandon God’s ideal.

The Scriptures provide clear guidelines for the children’s sphere in family life. God instructs them to accept the authority of their parents, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother” (Eph 6:1-2). Satan has tried to undermine the parental authority of the home by intro-ducing messages of insubordination and by seeking to render the parents unable to assert their authority over the children. Once you are aware of this truth you can begin to see the many specific ways that Satan is do-ing this today in the media, literature, music, etc. Many television shows and children’s books portray the father figure as weak or foolish.

One of the numerous songs which encourage children to resist parental authority, Billy Joel’s “My Life,” defiantly addresses parents: “I don’t want you to tell me it’s time to come home. I don’t care what you say anymore, this is my life. Go ahead with your own life, leave me alone.” Thus Satan whispers to children that submission and obedience are not best for them. The music the children listen to, their entertainment, and the atmosphere of the home are important leader-ship responsibilities.

The home is where the Word of God is taught and preserved, and where sound doctrine is explained and lived out.

Satan has done a masterful job at keeping fami-lies so busy that they have little time to read the Bible, let alone study it and put it into practice in their lives. Spending time in God’s Word and waiting upon God is essential. If Satan can keep families too busy for the Scriptures, they will lose their joy, strength, and effectiveness in this world.Satan, using busyness as his tool, has robbed many families of the time God wants them to spend with each other.

When parents spend time with God and allow their behavior to be guided by God’s Word, this will produce Christlikeness in them that will draw their children’s hearts to God. Any way in which Satan can keep parents’ lives from exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control—will detract from the character of the family and the members will suffer loss.

The family’s ultimate protection against Satan’s attacks is to know and live out God’s truth.

foundationThe Christian home is the most important institution in the world. That does not minimize the position of the church and state; they also have been ordained of God. But He places the home first—in time as well as in importance. It is the foundation upon which all other institutions are built; upon it the church and state will either stand or fall. What the homes are, the churches and schools are—and the government will be. Every place where there has been a neglect of home responsibility, there eventually has been a crumbling of the nation.
