What is a Family-School Compact?

Compact is another word for agreement. The Vickery

Mill Elementary School-Family Compact for

Achievement is an agreement between parents,

students and teachers. It explains how parents and

teachers will work together to make sure all students

get the individual support they need to reach and

exceed grade level standards.

Effective Compacts:

Begin with standards

Focus on and foster student learning

Respond to school data

Define everyone’s responsibilities — and

Depend on us to believe in it and use it!

Jointly Developed

The parents, students and staff of Vickery Mill Elementary

School developed this School-Family Compact for

Achievement through input collected at our Title I Spring

Parent Input Meeting on February 14, 2017. Parents created

the suggestions for home activities to support learning.

School-wide meetings will be held each year to review and

revise the Compact.

Parents are welcome to contribute comments at any time.

Our Goals for Student Achievement District Goals Vickery Mill’s Goals

Ensure that all FCS students graduate prepared to pursue their chosen paths -- whether college, career or military -- and to succeed on those paths after high school by focusing on 4 top priorities over the next 5 years: Student Achievement - Prepare students with strong academic foundations and

the skills needed to navigate life beyond graduation People and Culture - Provide a welcoming environment and positive school and

district culture for students, families and employees Community Collaboration - Engage families, community members and civic or-

ganizations as active partners Fiscal Responsibility - Manage and protect public funds and assets through effi-

cient and effective use of available resources For measurable outcomes and to review the Strategic Plan 2022 visit http://www.fultonschools.org/en/Pages/StrategicPlan2022.aspx

Vickery Mill administrators and teachers have studied our students’ performance data to decide on the most important area of improvement for our school. Vickery Mill will con-tinue to improve in all academic areas with special focus on literacy. Literacy

VMES will increase the number of students that are reading at or above grade level according to the Benchmark Assessment System from 52% to 62%.

3rd—5th grades: Reading - Our school will increase the number of students scoring at proficient or distinguished on the Georgia Milestones from 24% to 30% by focusing on reading strategies that help students read and comprehend content-area texts.

Math

3rd-5th grades—Our school will increase the number of students scoring at proficient or distinguished on the Georgia Milestones Test from 28%-33%.
