VETERANS TREATMENT COURT

VETERANS TREATMENT COURT
• The Superior Court for San Bernardino County, in partnership with the Probation Dept. and the VA Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA.
• Treatment, in lieu of incarceration

• Substance abuse– Alcohol– Prescriptions– Meth– Marijuana– Cocaine
VETERANS TREATMENT COURT
• Veterans meet daily for group sessions guided by social workers, and coupled with individualized treatment plans designed by VA psychologists and psychiatrists.

• 18 Months: 3 Stages– Stage I
• 60 day minimum, sober, stable and sanction free
• Testing & NA/AA 3x’s wk• Court Review every 2 wks
– Stage II• 120 days minimum w/90
days of sobriety• Full time schedule• Court Review every 2-4
wks

• Stage III– 180 day minimum– Relapse prevention plan– Court Review every 2-6
wks
• Aftercare 180 days sober– 180 day minimum, stable
and sanction free.

sober/stable days– Relapse Plan– Stable & Sober Residence– Fines and Fees paid off– Full schedule• Work/School and or

• Upon successful completion of the VJO program, the Court may consider dismissing the veteran’s court case,
• Including, where appropriate, reducing the felony conviction to a misdemeanor as a positive reinforcement incentive.
