National Careers Week In Week 4 we celebrated National Careers Week, which was a great success, despite some of the restrictions placed upon us due to COVID_19. The highlight of the week was our Dream Job Dress Up Day. This year all students and staff were asked to dress up and we had some very creative occupations represented. Thanks to all of those who got involved in the week, we hope it provided lots of ‘food for thought’ around future career pathways. 2021 VETDSS Info Sessions – Central Regional TAFE On Wednesday 24 June Central Regional TAFE, Geraldton, are holding information sessions for all current Year 10 and 11 students who may be considering attending TAFE in 2021, as a part of their school program. Due to COVID_19 restrictions students must register online at www.trybooking.com/BJQVP to book in for one of three timeslots available. Please see more information on the flyer in this Newsletter. We strongly encourage all students to attend an information session even if you are not sure if you will be applying for TAFE in 2021 or not. This will be a great opportunity to check out what they have on offer, and their fantastic facilities. Year 10 Aboriginal School Based Training Opportunities In Term 3 we are commencing our Aboriginal School Based Traineeship program, in conjunction with Central Regional TAFE. This year we will be offering students the opportunity to undertake the Certificate I in Leadership or the Certificate I in Automotive. An information session will be held on Wednesday 24 June at 9.00am in the school Theatre. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend. Please contact Mrs Kempton for more information and look out for the flyers we will be sending home to eligible students.

It has been a hectic and exciting start for Champion Bay’s Certificate II in Sport and Recreation class. Miss Edwards and the students have been working hard to get through the theory and practical units of the course. Fortunately COVID_19 did not disrupt us too much and our amazing group of Year 11 students have had the opportunity of teaching their younger peers in Year 8 and 9 AFL skills, throughout the term. Term 2 has started with fitness circuits, which have been challenging, but rewarding for us all. The students have been creating and running their own fitness circuits and have even had the Year 9 Clontarf Academy boys join in for a couple of sessions. It has been a wonderful experience to watch our Year 11 students grow in leadership and maturity over these last 6 months and we are looking forward to continuing our adventures next semester.
