Centrally stored web based system facilitates access from anywhere, anytime for instant information.. Only Authorized users can log into to the system and get the required data. This ensures security to the information available in the system. Data when stored in a database can be used for obtaining strategic information from the historical data. This will bring down the time and effort spent in retrieving critical data from the records, besides ensuring accuracy of information at any point in time. The system can also be extended to be used as a collaborative Intranet by establishing discussion forums between the Vessel owners and Ship Managers. Similar Discussion forums can also be established between the Vessel team and the Corporate Office. Such an extension would significantly bring down the time and cost involved in communication.
