The ‘magic’ behind the success story

The success story achieved by the formation Verreckt-Ariën since their start at the Schoterheide in 2002 has taken on immense proportions! ‘Acorns become trees’… it could be the perfect description of this success story… although the ‘trees’ have now grown into an extensive ‘forest’! That ‘small bud’, that ‘small seed’ which grows into a large ripe fruit, which in turn produces more ‘germinal seeds’ which manage to grow into lush fruits, into the ‘best’ of its sort… it describes the ‘magic’ hiding behind the piece of pigeon history which over the last 10 seasons has been penned down in Tessenderlo!

As a small boy Pascal could always be found in the pigeon lofts of grandfather Alfons Verwimp in Laakdal, where he learned how to take his first steps into the pigeon world, in tandem with his grandfather of course. When Pascal finished studying to be an engineer he invested his first salary immediately… no, not in the traditional ‘big banks’ which promise heaven and earth… Pascal was pleased with less… pigeon eggs! Not directly by the greatest names in our sport, but by the very strong fanciers from his own district.

Hence Pascal obtained a round of youngsters from the racing hens from Antoine Lowet from Bilzen, and pigeons from Eddy Helsen from Vorst, from Gust Steemans, and descendants out the line of the ‘Fenomenale’ from Camiel Nulens from Koersel, and of course not forgetting the ‘top class’ from Patricia Verhaegen from Aarschot! Investments which served him well! Making sure you have a strong foundation as starting point, Pascal seems to have been very successful… and when he began to build on

the empire Verreckt-Ariën in Schoterheide, together with Agy, in 2002, they also worked on the team which would hide behind the successes. So came uncle (from Agy) Robert Rutten, and grandfather Alfons Verwimp (self stopped in Laakdal) to strengthen the tandem… so that the success train Verreckt-Ariën was immediately pulled by 4 locomotives. The success train was straight on the rails… and already from the first season (2002) they booked provincial victory from Bourges… it was the overture to a long list which was to follow!

The ‘Golden Pair’ basis to successWhen Pascal bought a round of eggs from Antoine Lowet he couldn’t have guessed the impact that this ‘investment’ was to have on the later build-up of his colony. When he coupled the ‘Dikke Lowet’ with the ‘Lang Lowet’… it was Bull’s Eye, the size of an elephant! They were to become ‘parent’ and ‘grandparent’ of more than 40 various 1st Provincial winners, wherefrom a few even signed for ‘victory’ up to national level! ‘Dikke Lowet’ x ‘Lang Lowet’ formed the ‘key’ to ‘national domination’ which over the last few seasons has ‘fully bloomed’! This ‘Golden Pair’ opened the gates to the ‘hall of fame’ fully. Naturally they couldn’t do it on their own… they were backed up by ‘Camilla’ originating from Camiel Nulens… a half-sister of the ‘Fenomenale’ which was 1st Nat Ace bird Long Distance KBDB 2002… which by Verreckt-Ariën was grandmother of supers so as ‘Olympic Wacko’ and brother ‘Jacko’! Also a few pigeons originating from the super couple ‘Grijze Kannibaal’ x ‘Jackpotduivin’ from Patricia Verhaegen gave the car a big push… with breeding phenomenon ‘Patricia’ and her brother the ‘Swa’… as pillars to success! He obtained from Eddy Helsen descendants of the 3rd Nat Ace bird Middle Distance… which produced the breeding legend ‘Armstrong’ and his half-brother ‘Ylian’ … ‘Ylian’ the father of racing wonder ‘Moluca’! This ‘Moluca’ stems on mother’s side once again out the line of the 1st Nat Ace bird Long Distance KBDB 2006 by Erik Limbourg, the ‘Lucky 85’… which also gave a new impulse to the performances in Tessenderlo! Also descendants of the ‘Golden Ace’ or the 1st Nat. Ace bird Middle Distance KBDB 2006 from Jean Molenberghs made their contribution! The direct descendants of the ‘Golden Pair’ DIKKE LOWET x LANG LOWET coupled with the aforementioned breeding lines… significantly from 1st National Ace birds

KBDB… lay not only at the basis of the ‘dominance’, often ‘over classy’ pigeon game with which the Verreckt-Ariën colony, year after year, made more of an impression in the races up to national level… their ‘added value’ also lay at the basis of the origin of more new and in particular greater ‘crack pigeons’, which not only excelled with a series of 1st Prizes up to ‘Provincial’ and ‘National’ level… but which also rose to become ‘national Ace birds’ or ‘Olympiad bird’! Descendants out the ‘Golden Pair’ coupled with the aforementioned ‘top class’ produced wondrous ‘super pigeons’ so as Olympiad pigeons ‘Argentully’ and ‘Olympic Wacko’… wondrous ‘pointers’ so as miracle ‘Moluca’ and ‘Proudo’, and in 2011 other super birds so as ‘Norma’ and ‘National Patrina’ which could be admired in Ostend amongst the ‘National Ace birds KBDB 2011’! In other words the current ‘carthorses’ and ‘figureheads’ of the Verreckt-Ariën colony!

A combination ‘GOOD’ x ‘NICE’!All pigeons which qua ‘build’ and ‘morphology’ approach perfection! Pigeons with magnificent wings, which slice through the air like oars… with eyes like ‘bullets’ in their head, which frighten the opposition to death when they look into them… with often ‘colossal’ muscles like inflated balloons, as true ‘energy reservoir’… it makes these pigeons very strong and tireless! Verreckt-Ariën pigeons don’t only belong to the very best… they probably are the ‘very best’, proven by their results… they are also beautiful athletes in the hand and make the hairs stick ‘straight up’ on your arms when you hold them… they are pigeons which make an ‘impression’! Whoever has ever had the chance or luck… to examine the Verreckt-Ariën toppers, were not only amazed by the enormous ‘class’ and ‘quality’ of these pigeons… but immediately understood why these pigeons have made such an impression on the national pigeon happenings over the last few decades… were so ‘superior’ to their opponents, knew how to have ‘supremacy’ even up to national level! Pigeons which have made deep tracks in our national pigeon sport… managed to cut deep into the opposition… so paramount… so dominant… sometimes ‘outstanding’! Resulting in the title of 1st National Champion ‘Grand Middle Distance’ KBDB 2010, and best loft of our country in the ‘nationals’ for youngsters in 2011… this despite the fact that they were recently classed as 3rd Nat. Champion Long Distance youngsters KBDB, it could only happen in our Belgium country! Performances which don’t only arouse ‘admiration’… they also directed them towards ‘national’ and ‘international’ podiums… as numerous ‘national’ titles, ‘national’ and ‘West-European’ Ace birds, in

addition to ‘Olympiad birds’… shine in their gold framed honours list! Or in short:
