1962- United States sends up a telecommunication satellite, sending the first short television clip between the U.S. and France

1968- Bell system works with fire chiefs, police officers, and the courts to set up the 9-11 service

1991- GTE buys Contel Corp. making it the 6th largest wireless provider in the United States

1999- Bell merges with Vodafone to create the largest wireless company in the united states
