A participle is a verb form that can be used as an adjective.

Present participles end in ing.

The Past Participle

Most past participles end in -d or –ed. Some past participles are irregularly formed. The police officers searched the abandoned

warehouse. This plate, bought at a flea market, is a valuable

antique. Chosen for her leadership abilities, Dawn was an

effective team captain. The mangled pair of sunglasses, bruised face,

and broken arm meant Gerry had taken another spill on his mountain bike.
