An infinitive
• is a verb in its most basic form
• there are 3 types– ar, -er, -ir
• translates as “to _____”

Each infinitive has two parts:

The ending
3 possible endings:
–ar –er or –ir

él – A ellos – AN
ella – A ellas – AN
usted – A ustedes – AN

3 Steps to Conjugating a Verb:1. Decide who the subject is, who
is doing the verb2. Drop the ending from the infinitive3. Add the new ending to match the
subject doing the verb
