INVITATION Dear Colleagues & friends, Greetings to one and all. It is a great pleasure to welcome you to this International Conference on Evidence Based Nursing Practice, which will be held at Smt. Radhikabai Meghe Memorial College of Nursing, Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha, Maharashtra, India on the 6th and 7th of February, 2014. The conference is organized in cooperation between Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences, (Deemed University), Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha, Maharashtra, India and Karlstad University, Karlstad, Sweden with support of Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). Evidence-based practice, a movement toward an increased assimilation of newly generated research evidence into direct patient care delivery, has been underway in the health care sector for over two decades. By considering the historical context of nursing practice, including evidence-based nursing practice, and examining the content of key publications on this topic, it is possible to uncover the assumptions that form the basis for the push toward an increased use of research in practice. When taken-for-granted, these assumptions support the continuing dominance of the evidence-based practice discourse. The purpose of this conference is to: · Bring together nurse researchers, nurse teachers, clinical nurses, and nursing leaders and administrators from diverse clinical and academic settings in India and the rest of the world to share research findings and experiences of evidence based practice in nursing. · Enable participants to understand the importance of Evidence Based Nursing Practice and how to get there. · Promote and develop global excellence in nursing knowledge by networking and collaboration. The uniqueness of the conference is illustrated through deliberations by renowned experts nationally and internationally. We are looking forward to your visit and are eagerly waiting to share a rich intellectual, cultural and social platform for professional interactions. With warm regards. Dr. Dilip Gode Prof. Seema Singh Organizing Chairperson Organizing Secretary

Vishwa Shanti Stup 4km

In 1935, Fuji Guruji (founder of Nipponzan Myohoji) from Japan came to Wardha and met Mahatma Gandhi. He wished to build Stupas (Prayer place for of Buddhist Communities) in India. Gandhi agreed his desire and then after Stanti Stupas (Peace Pagodas) were built at eight different places in India, including Wardha. This Stupa was constructed with the help of Nipponzan Myohoji monks in 1995.

ArcharyaVinobhaBhave Asharam -15km Located on the Dham river, Pavnar is renowned for the Ashram of Acharya Vinoba Bhave who started the Bhoodan movement in the early 1960’s. He persuaded larger farmers to voluntarily donate large tracts of land to the landless. The ashram is known for its treatment of leprosy patients. During the excavation work for the Ashram, several sculpted stone panels belonging to the Wakataka dynasty were unearthed, and are now displayed in the Ashram premises.

Sewagram – BapuKuti-10 km

Gandhiji stayed from 1936 to 1948 at Sevagram Ashram and carried out all his activities from this ashram during that period. When Gandhi started his padayatra (foot march) in 1930 from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi for the Salt Satyagraha, he had decided not to return to Sabarmati till independence for India was attained. Independence was not attained at that time and Gandhi was imprisoned for more than two years. On his release he spent some time travelling. In April 1936, Gandhiji established his residence in the village Shegaon which he renamed as Sevagram, which means 'village of service'. Gandhiji was 67 years old when he came to Sevagram. From then on, Sevagram has become an inspiring place. Many decisions on important national matters and movements were taken at Sevagram. It became the central place for a number of institutions for the nation building activities devised by Gandhiji to suit the inherent strength of this country.

Anandwan 90 km Half a century ago a man was moved to the core by the unbearable miseries, agony and social ostracism being suffered by victims of leprosy. It was sufficient to help him realize what his life's mission ought to be. He wanted to be faithful to his conscience. He relinquished his luxurious life style, his lucrative profession and voluntarily embraced poverty to identify himself with the deprived and the depressed. The rest of his life was a saga of struggle, a struggle against the infirmities of the mind of man, a struggle against the cruelties of the world. The rest of his life was a poem in action; a beautiful poem of self-less service, of creative compassion, of unflinching faith, of determination, love and peace. Yes, the reference here is to none else than the great humanitarian Baba Amte, who has been honoured with several prestigious awards including international ones such as The Templeton Prize (popularly known as the Nobel Prize for Religion) and The Right Livelihood Award (popularly known as the Alternative Nobel Prize). But for such a great person as Baba who says: "I want no Nobel Prize. I have ever sought but a noble enterprise; the smile of a man who is oppressed or a child who is suffering is what I covet more than any award." What are these awards? What prize can equal his service and sacrifice? What words can describe his vision and mission? No doubt, no awards and recognitions can ever do full justice to him. He is simply well beyond them all. He is simply unaffected by bouquets and brickbats.
